How wasn't there a need? Alonso is 30 points ahead on Massa and on that alone the best chance to get the drivers title this year. 07 and 08 showed the importance of even 1 point in the championship. Having Alonso gain an extra 5 points than he would obtain otherwise is 5 points needed.

Don't get me wrong it is completely wrong for Ferrari to have done it but at the same time you could say it was necessary in Ferrari's eyes.

30 points this year is 12 points in previous years. Not all that much.
 
It's a shame that Ferrari has chosen to do this yet again. I think Alonso was quicker enough to be able to overtake Massa with no need for team orders. And that ******** radio talk is just calling all of their fans and all the people who enjoy F1 idiots.

Massa was specially disappointed because he wanted to dedicate this victory for his uncle who died this week.

Actually, it's only a week between now and Hungary.

Haven't seen the race yet, since it's on stupid Fox. But I know the results. I would have liked to see a much better result from Red Bull, but good on Vettel for still making the podium at his home race. I know about the Ferrari move in the last laps. I don't care how logical it was, it was still unfair to take the win away from Massa. I'm not a Ferrari fan, but I am a Formula One fan.

Massa was holding down Alonso, it was the correct thing to do for the team. It would be terrible if they did the same as Vettel and Webber ruining the race for both of them.
 
Disgusting display by Ferrari. They could have at least tried to make it look like a clean pass. And going by the commentary, it seems they're trying to get Red Bull's front wing investigated. Typical of them: there's one set of rules for Ferrari, and another set for everyone else. They should be allowed to keep the result, but stripped of their points because we all know championship position is the reason why they made the change.
 
Well so much for team orders done the old fashioned way (quietly),I can't be sure if Fernando would have caught up with Felipe and passed him but c'mon Felipe's start is one of the best this season and he has been blistering all race .Felipe you are a winner in my book although that doesn't count for much :lol:
 
I REFUSE to accept that Fernando Alonso won that race. Sure, the record books will say that Alonso won that race but no way will I ever accept that he did win the race.

The radio communcation from Rob Smedley was clear as day: Alonso is faster than you, do you understand?

Then after the pass, Rob comes through with a good lad message and finished it with sorry.

To me, that is as clear a team order as you can get and for me, that contravenes rule 39.1 which says no team orders are allowed.

I want Alonso to be disqualified, not Massa because Massa didn't have a say in this but Alonso and Ferrari shouldn't be allowed to keep this result. However, sadly, the Ferrari International Assistance will do jack all about it and let them get away with it.

Other than that, well done to all of the other drivers, especially to young Petrov for getting a point. Good for him.
 
In any event that results in Alonso's disqualification, Massa will also be disqualified - his engineer gave the instruction and he followed it.

No he wasn't.

Massa and Alonso were trading fastest laps each lap, and I was enjoying the fantastic battle that had been going on between them. In the end Alonso was faster, but the victory was never in jeopardy as the Ferrari drivers could've sorted things out between themselves.

Massa and Alonso are aggressive drivers, but they're also two of the greatest F1 drivers. It's not like they will fight until one of the other crashes.

I suspect Massa knew Alonso was faster ever since his pitstop, but I think he is upset that he couldn't give Alonso a run for his money and today he has realized how Barrichello must've felt in the Schumi era. Poor lad 👎

Incorrect, If you read the article on autosport it states that both Ferrari and Red Bull are under possible investigation.

Wow, Ferrari have hit a new low and no penalty from the FiA after such obvious funk messages:
Alonso- This is ridiculous(whaaa whaaa lemme pass, cry more)
Rob Smedley- Alonso is faster than you( that noob, Domenicali made me say this because Alonso is crying) This is just sad and don`t come with "it was only logical" or "Alonso was gonna pass him anyways" you know it`s BS.

Obeying the order still makes Rob involved and evenly guilty as the rest of Ferrari. Not that it makes it a prettier situation though...

What would give you that impression?

If there is any investigation into this, whatever happens to Alonso will also happen to Massa. If it's DQs, then Vettel wins, from Hamilton and Button.

I'd laugh so very very very hard if Alonso lost his points - he'd no doubt cry foul again too...

The rules have been broken - that fact needs to be addressed...

What are the 3 punishments that Stewards can hand out?

a) 25 second "drivethru" penalty
b) Disqualification
c) ??

IMO thats was *censored* disgraceful and Ferrari should lose all construction points for this race and next and pay compensation to all those who have lost money on this. Ferrari are officially dead to me, surely if he was faster he should overtake him legitimately, apart from that quite a boring race which has ruined my mood.

Wether you like it or not, the main objective in any team is to win both championships. As David Coulthard said 'If you dont believe team orders exist you are stupid'.

The disgusting part in all of this is ferrari could of potentially damaged a very important relationship between Massa and Smedley. Alonso and Massa too for that matter. Ferrari put both drivers and engineers alike in such a horrible position, and that was most evident in the press conference.

Alonso had the drop on Massa for sure. He was gaining handfuls of tenths each lap, and if there were to be ANY order, it should of simply been to give him space when he makes an inevitable overtake manoeuvre.

I'm glad that this race finally brings out the crap that Alonso made up at the start of the year about driving for the team. Fernando Alonso will only ever care about himself. He so obviously bullied them into making the decision (I'm not saying it was completely him though).

I'm very passionate about this as I'm a Massa fan and everybody's been criticising him all year and he was about to shut all the critics up.

No need to abandon your loyalty over 'one' controversial move... This isn't the first time they have done this and it wont be the last. Until the stewards and prove them guilty of race fixing then there in the clear...

You can't punish Alonso without punishing Massa aswell, as Famine mentioned.

I think Massa has been punished enough already, he should have won this race. Alonso tried many times to pass and failed, therefore Massa deserved the win.

These were clear team orders. Massa quite obviously let him past. Rob Smedley apologising to Felipe shows that it was Ferrari's intention with that message to let Alonso through. Outrageous.

If the Stewards do nothing, the change in the regulations designed to prevent this form of conduct was pointless.

I say make an example of the team. It's a difficult one though, because the decision was made based on the Drivers standings, not the Constructors, so they would have still gained from this.

I can't see how people find that fixing is "ok" in motorsports.

Ferrari should have a DSQ in this race, both the team and the drivers.

It's not right, and most importantly, unlike 2002, now it's against the rules.

It's clear that Alonso was faster, however, overtaking is part of the race, and i'm not sure he would have done it without cheating.

Fixing is outrageous in any sport that is not WWE. The fact that this has been done before does not change that, and it doesn't make me any less stupid for supporting a "sport" that s***s all over fair play.

I guess it's just another reminder of how much is wrong with F1 these days... (by these days i mean last 15 years or so).
