Actually, he's a man to watch tomorrow. I think he can score some nice points.

Now that the refueling has gone, we really got to see the raw pace of these cars. Red Bull and Ferrari seeming to be miles ahead of all the others. I think Massa might have the best chance for the win tomorrow as the BBC mentioned the Ferrari seems to be the better race pace car. I can hardly wait to see all the action tomorrow!

I'm at work, and had this on the TV. We're not allowed to have the sound up, so I had the subtitles on. They were mostly correct, but see if you can guess who these ones are...

I hope he does score well, and it's great seeing Massa back on pace...placing second no less. 👍

I can see why the drivers don't particularly care for this track; the undulating corners seems to be heavy on camber. At least most of the top guys are where they belong - at the top.

That's about the only one I don't recognize, and I actually had to mispronounce Schumi's name myself to get the first one. :lol:

Fantastic first pole for Vettel. Don't want to jinx it by saying the word... y'know... but we're all thinking it... aren't we?

Still... with the heat and tire issues, tomorrow might actually be anybody's race.
 
Impressive pole for Vettel and a solid showing by ferrari, so much for the F-duct offering the magical advantage. Did anyone else who was watching on speedtv notice that the timing scoring tables were missing. They only timed one (seemingly random) driver at a time while the others were completely ignored. :ouch:WHY, I ask???

Anyways, exciting qualifying I'll say. This new tire rule along with the lack of fueling is going to change even more than I first thought.

Speed said they are just not using that graphic anymore. Shame it really made it much easier to see were everyone was positioned. Really happy about my favorite driver being on pole and my favorite team right behind him.

It certainly would. Between him and the other one, Chekron....Che....Che-something or other, a couple of new people on the field whom I might have to keep an eye on.

Oh, didn't Varsha say something about Ferrari not wanting to negotiate another contract with Raikkonen?

they said the had do deal with ending the contract with him.
 
Can't seem to find any tire info for the top 10. Would be nice to know what compound each will start and how many laps were put on them during Q3. The new tire rules are puzzling me slightly because you want to put in a fast lap with your tires, but your discouraged from pushing too hard for too long also since you'll start the race with fried rubber.:confused:

If you damage/flat spot the tires you set your grid position with, you can pole but still be screwed for the start of the race.:boggled::ouch:

D'oh. I can't keep on top of all these names. Like that new rookie, Schumacher. Why is his name so familiar? Is he Ralf's younger brother or something? :dopey:

Can't wait for the race! This is going to be fun.
 
A very good quali session there, with strong performances from Vettel & Massa.

I'm a bit surprised to see Webber a full second slower than his team mate, I didn't notice if he had any "moments" out on track which would have compromised his lap time.

Its looking good for the race tomorrow. Barrichello is sitting on that crucial 11th position meaning he'll be the first of the runners allowed to use fresh tyres from the start, it'll be worth keeping an eye on him.

As for the front three they seem to be so much quicker than everyone else, my prediction for the overall win tomorrow is Massa. When they were showing the onboard footage of Vettels lap the car looked as though it was trying to go every direction but straight, it will be hard to drive with as much commitment for the entire race. I think that the Ferrari will have the better overall race pace this weekend at least.
 
Unless Vettel has a good strategy, i'm gonna put all my nickels and dimes on the Ferraris for victory tomorrow.
 
I'm very happy to see Massa ahead of Alonso. People were expecting Alonso to take the charge and Massa to be his wingman, but I'm sure the two will have a very close fight this season.

I wouldn't be surprised if tomorrow Barrichello uses a 1-stop strategy. He used to be very effective at that years ago, and I think his driving style will benefit from not having to fuel up the car.

McLaren looks like a hard car to drive. I wonder if it will force driver errors when the tank is full tomorrow.

Also very impressed at Hulkemberg's performance. He was just half a second behind Barrichello, which is not much considering the length of the track. Looks like he will be the rookie of the year this time.

On the other hand I was unimpressed at Button. I always thought Hamilton was better, but I was expecting a closer fight. Same thing can be said about Schummacher, but then he has the excuse of not having qualified in years.

Somehow I don't think so. Seems most of the top 10 will be starting on grippy but used soft tires. They'll be quick at first but everyone from p11 on back is on fresh rubber, so when the top10 need to come in, the midpack could become the new front-runners. Is p11 on medium tires the new pole?

Hell no. We've now all seen how fast the Red Bull and Ferraris are. Given that the new pitstops only take 1.8-3 seconds I think the interest over P11 is going to wear off quickly.

Did anybody else have probelms with F1.com's Live Timing last night? When I tried to open it in a separate window, the Live Timing screen only took up the right-hand half of the window, and when I attempted to simply launch it within the browser, it never loaded.

I've not been able to log in today, it keeps telling me my email or password is wrong. After trying several times I clicked the "forgot my password button" even though I know what my password is (or was) and I'm still waiting 2 hours later to receive the email allowing me to reset my password :banghead:

Just driving through the pitlane without stopping can take 20 seconds or more so it could be a significant advantage, P11 is an exciting position to watch tomorrow because Ruebens is there with Schumy only 4 places ahead of him. Both of these drivers have experience of race re-fuelling bans, but only one of them will be allowed to start the race on fresh rubber. It would be a huge double blow for Schumacher if he was not only beaten in the race by his younger team-mate, only for his old team-mate to come sailing past him using his tyre advantage. P11 could be the scene of quite a few upsets this season, but as I said before I don't think that drivers will intentionally set out to get 11th place, Barrichello was just lucky to end up there today.

Live Timing works for me now. I just launched it within the window I was using instead of starting a new one. I love seeing a full twenty-four names listed there.

If that's correct daan then that makes me more concerned about Webbers qualifying. He could have been excused for being so much slower than Vettel if he was on the harder tyres.

I'd like to see/read an interview with Mark to hear his views on Q3.
