Oh, now THAT is an entertaining race series to watch. Because of the lack of weight over the rear wheels (where all the power goes) they really don’t have as much control compared with the sedans. The commentary crew are also awesome… funniest/best racing on the planet.

My ears are burning, someone must have said Ute. The V8 Brutes are an awesome series, plus they require much more driver skill to operate than any sedan based series, because they are tricky. And in all fairness, the whole demolition derby aspect has calmed down now, making for simply awesome Ute racing. (A few years back it was a demo derby, but they're getting much better- even in the rain at Adelaide )

Yeah, I havent checked them out lately, but I do see the one that turns up to my local dyno workshop for fixing/servicing, it is always beaten up, infact I don't think i've seen it straight once yet, even the VE they run now.

Gary Baxter.....hmm, I think he runs close to the front most of the time. Maybe the racing is just harder and closer. Still- accidents have decreased in number for V8 Brutes. But they're still Brutes.

Hey, not even I understand that. The thing is, GM didn't go out and find him, he sought them out months ago when he first heard about the G8.

...GM, usually, has a good track record with celebrity endorsements. Snoop Dogg, Shaq, Tiger Woods, Jay Z, Jennifer Hudson, Jay Leno, Bob Dylan, among others...

God, you americans wouldn't know whats good for you if it hit you in the head, (its a joke, laugh, lets not all get angry now!)

As most Aussie's have said, and continued to say, its a Sports Utility, not a TRUCK!! never was marketed as nor was bought in thinking so. Its a Car with a big boot, with massive performance. Low 13's std, figures just shy of 300rwkw with little spent on them turn them into a low 12, high 11 sec car (yes, notice i said car!) and a track weapon.

Unfortunately i think that many are to nieve (sp?) to think that this car might actually be a decent bit of kit, there will be those who get over the fact that its not a TRUCK and infact a sports car with a huge boot and thus they will sell in the US, and GM will only import as much as they think they can sell anyway so its no like its a huge financial error upon their behalf.

The El Camino argument isnt valid, as im 100% certian they will get a hold of Holden Body panels and run Chev badges on them in the US like half the poplulation with an LS Series V8 down here does anyway.

On another note, what other car in the world looks like this?

We know that it isn't a "real" truck, but because it has a bed, most Americans will perceive it as such, which will likely decide how sales will work. The question here is that because its a Pontiac product, will it be as successful as it likely would have been with a Bowtie out front and "El Camino" on the tailgate?

We'll have to wait and see.

We're still about 12 months from seeing one on the streets here, and depending on gas prices and how the GMT355 trucks are equipped, its hard to know how things will work out.

you guys can harp as much as you want about america's "cheap fuel", but remember, our price per gallon is the same as YOUR price per liter. americans are feeling this price crunch hard, and are panicking.

for the Aussies: sorry, mates, but the old people that run this country and HAVE the money are traditionalists. remember, your all "foreigners" to most people.

Yes, Australia and New Zealand along with Canada are still a part of the Commonwealth. Other notable members include India and Pakistan as well as South Africa and Malaysia. To be honest, I normally only think of the Anglo-style states as part of it, I had no idea how wide the Commonwealth was...

But as they say; "The Sun never sets on the British Empire."

I agree with Family down under. America spoiled it's colonists, Australia boiled them (as in: boiled away the bad...mostly)

and I always assumed it was only Canada/Oz/South Africa/Kiwis (in that order?) of the big formers that were in the Commonwealth. I never thought to count India or Malaysia.

-> Based on my experience on the excellent GTO 6.0, I might get this 'truck' (as long if it will feature 6M/T). Its on my #12 on list to get (#1 is the S2000 next is the Fit [the GTO 6.0 is #8]). And I'll mod it to turn it into an El Camino.
