Sadly guys, I can tell you now that the chance of rain this weekend at silverstone is less than 5%.

Sources: Live in the UK so know what websites are ussualy accurate, and they all say no rain.

On the upside though, it is going to be a lovely weekend, sunny and around 22 degree's.

Incidentally, Ferrari have changed their name to "Scuderia Ferrari", dropping the Marlboro. I wonder if they'll lose prize money for changing their name, as Team Lotus were in danger of...
 
Unfortunately it's brightened up. Lots and lots of cloud but none looks threatening.

I think it's only if you change the chassis name. Sponsor names you can chop and change without losing prize money as far as I know.
 
Those new buildings at Silverstone look cracking. Was already one of the best tracks for great racing, now it has the facilities to match.

Show me evidence that Mercedes do not need the concessions.

I already know you can't. We know Mercedes were granted those exemptions because of pressure in the crank case. However, we don't know what grounds Renault were granted conncessions on. An engine has dozens of moving parts, and the more moving parts a machine has, the more parts it has that can break. Renault have released no details of what they thought was in jeopardy unless they ran at 50% of full thorttle, but since Mercedes haven't been given permission to do the same, it's a fair bet that Renault's concerns don't stem from pressure in the crank case.

Everyone is assuming that the FIA is guilty simply because they changed a rule. But look at the teams - they know the OTBD gives them more downforce. They know that more downforce is an advantage. Consequently, they will do whatever they can to protect their ability to generate downforce. And they will go over the regulations with a fine-toothed comb looking for anything they can use. If Renault were claiming that running at 10% throttle would damage their engines but neglected to mention that the damage would occur when under an additional set of highly-specific circumstances, then it wouldn't be the first time that a team has exploited a loophole to preserve an advantage.

The cold, hard truth of the matter is that unless Renault and Mercedes were granted the same set of exemptions under the same set of conditions, we can't really accuse the FIA of improprietary. Because for all we know, Renault were attempting to con the FIA into giving them an unfair advantage. But because the FIA took that advantage away, they must be guilty of interfering with the result.
 
Make the exhaust exit somewhere other than in the diffuser. Manufacturers can do what they like with their off throttle maps. Job done.

They've got 4 weeks off in August. Just a get a designer or 2 and a couple of manufacturing guys in and do it then. It's only a few pipes that need moving. :)
 
All this blown diffuser nonsense, sounds like a load of hot air to me...

What a shock... Whitmarsh is currently crying about the current situation disadvantaging them. Horner is crying about the situation disadvantaging them. Why do I get the feeling it's not going to make a blind bit of difference!?

That said, it is ridiculous that decisions like this can be allowed to be questioned and/or reversed or adjusted during a race weekend.
 
This grid could be incredible close.:) I'd presume Lotus had the diffuser since they're Renault? Maybe Virgin or even Haspania could beat some established teams.

I dont think they are allowed to do any or very little work, its a total shutdown.

The new start finish straight is confusing, especially when the time is around 1.10 and you normally expect them to be at one point of the circuit but they are on the other half!

And the new start / finish looks similar to the old with the right hander and the short straight in it! Confused!

Hmmn, yeah. It seems to be changing by the hour, when I posted that everywhere was saying that it would be dry, now everywhere is saying it will be wet.
 
Hoping for a good weekend for Di Resta, looking pretty edgy out there, which isn't a bad thing for someone of his driver style.
 
Brundle saying the car exhausts should be vertical like a tractor, a throttle connected by a cable, and manual gearbox.
 
I'd say it would be Alonso or Webber on pole.


Of course Vettel will come along and take pole by 5 seconds.:lol:
 
Gee, i wish to watch this quali. It's the first time i miss this season, thanks to 🤬 politics going on here. :grumpy:
