I'm just getting sick of the Red Bull flexi-wing stuff. There is no way that it should be allowed to touch the ground on the straights. It's somehow getting pass the tests though which is plain annnoying.
 
I'm surprised none of the teams have protested the Red Bull's flexing nose/front wing section as a movable aerodynamic device outside the current regulations.

Damnit. I wake up at 7 to watch qualifying and it's over. I swear everywhere I looked had it starting at 7. Thankfully SpeedTV will replay it.

It did start at 7:00... East coast time.

Would love to see Nico get his first win tomorrow. He mentioned in the interview that they saved a set of soft tires.
 
I'm not on the East coast.

Here we go with the conspiracy theories again. The rules have been changed and the weight placed on the wing in testing has been nearly doubled. The RBR chassis is legal. Get over it.

Vettel is just one spectacular qualifier. If he learns to race on the same level his achievements will rival the other German guy when his career is summarized.
 
I think all the drivers should have to swap cars. For example, vettel after his Australia win would have to drive the Virgin, Webber the Lotus.

Hamilton would be placed in one of the Force India's for a race. This would work for the rest of the field. Opposite ends of the grid back and forth.

The problem would lie in the middle of the pack teams. They'd be driving virtually the same car every race. ;) poor guys.
 
Good job on the double post and that's a horrible idea. Vettel is a great qualifier and his pace over Webber in an identical car proves it. He shouldn't be penalized for the hard work of Newey and the rest of the technical gurus.

Well I think its a GREAT idea. :sly:

Vettel wouldnt be penalized because he'd still drive the RBR in every other race. Along with the other very talented drivers who normally only get the Virgin's, HRT's & Lotus'.

Great run from Vettel, I think people overplayed the lack of running on friday, aslong as Webber made a decent base set up, Vettel was always going to be towards the sharp end. I think Webber will be dissapointed he's so far behind Seb but second is a fine result considering last time out. Big mention goes to Rosberg, Merc have certainly raised their game and Nico could have nabbed Webber. However, he gets to start on the clean side of the grid, I'd put money on him coming out of Turn 1 in second.

Gonna be fun watching Kobayashi come through the field too, it'll end one of two ways, DNF on lap 1 or a decent haul of points! Turkey is just the track to have to start at the back with fresh tyres on, you can overtake there yet it punishes used tyres to an extreme, good luck to the chap.

Well he would certainly outqualify both of them. Although that isn't much of a feat these days.

I bet even someone like Di Resta would think otherwise, being that he out pole'd Vettel by 5/1 when they were team mates in the 06 Euro F3 series :lol: Now I won't mention how he got owned in 05 by 4 other drivers (like Hamilton, Sutil, di Grassi) in Euro F3, in equal machinery as well.

Just putting some ice on the hype train...

OK then, let me rephrase my last saying...

The Red Bull RB7 is like the Amuse S2000 GT1 NoobTurbo: it's faster than anything it's like. (Especially in the hands of Vettel, as is the Amuse in the hands of the GT5 AI... :grumpy: )

Yeah well, apparently Andres Iniesta was no spectacular talent when he was 15 but was nevertheless voted best in the world last year.

I still wont call Vettel a very good racer though.
 
Football and racing cars are two very different disciplines (more importantly in regards to how the athletes are compared against eachother).
 
He's a phenomenal hot-lapper, that is for sure. Interesting qualifying session, hard to see past a Red Bull win, but this place will be tough on tyres and is good for overtaking.

Given the season so far, you'd be brave to predict tomorrow.
 
D'ambrosio dropping 5 grid places for ignoring a yellow flag, Kobayashi starting 23. Had his first overtake before the race even started! :lol:

It's not 100% car.

He is a brilliant driver he was fastest in his first practice in 2006 in the Williams, won in Italy in the Toro Rosso (an amazing drive), and scored points in his first race. He outpaces Webber almost every time and webber is a Qualy specialist.

You think Schumacher would have won all those championships if he was racing for Williams?

Of course he won't be happy with that, so Kobayashi will go about 100 metres behind him and overtake in the middle of turn 8 just to show off.:lol:
 
Worth noting that the dirty side of the grid have almost always had poor starts here. Rosberg with some luck could be a factor here.

Yeah, so? Would Schumacher or Massa be 4 tenths ahead of Webber who has more practice and the newer upgrade package? I actually think Vettel in today's Ferrari or Mercedes would be P3 at least. (although the Fezza seems only good enough for 5th).
According to your logic, no pole position can be impressive as its always set by the fastest car. Vettel was pretty amazing today - minimal practice, less upgrades than Webber and he is still way ahead and on it straight away. While yes it does say something about the RB7, that doesn't explain being so far ahead of Webber.

No he wasn't. Messi won the most recent Ballon d'Or and Forlán before that. Even when he won the WC2010 Forlán was voted best of the tournament. Also, I would bet Iniesta was a great player at 15. That doesn't really matter though.

Nico's first race win is coming this year. If Mercedes GP can just find a little bit more time it's going to happen. They had a great strategy in China which catapulted Nico to the lead, but he had to stay out on scrubbed tires too long at the end.

I'm surprised no one has noted the recent Williams F1 fallout.

He actually had to slow his pace down due to a concern there was not enough fuel in the car to get to the end of the race. Linky I think you're right that he wouldn't have won the race due to the tyres, but I reckon he could've got on the podium if he was able to stretch more of a lead after the first stops. I also agree that he should get a win this season if Merc can keep up their development.

Whoever did Massa's tire strategy chart should be dunked in the toilet. They wasted one set of softs in Q1, which forced them to sit out Q3. What this means is that while Massa has the luxury of picking his starting tire tomorrow, he will still not have an advantage in terms of soft tires in reserve over the other drivers in the top teams.

I don't think that was planned. Seemed more like they were afraid his previous time wouldn't get him to Q2 so they went with the soft tires.
