What is it about these National Guard cars and turn 4 of the last lap??? In the same day, might I add.

Yeah, it's karma for all the nationalism. Then again, that's kind of what NASCAR is all about.

Can't believe Dale and Kasey ran out of gas like that. Kasey was hauling so much ass and had such a huge lead with 30ish laps to go. Stupid yellows.

Don't forget Hamlin did too!

Yeah but Hamlin was all out early on. I kind of expected him to run out. I thought Dale and Kasey would cross the line and not make it back to base.

How can these crew chiefs let the team miscalculate something like that? Don't they have any good ol' boys that are math savvy?

Doesn't matter how math savvy you are. Way too many variables come into play in a fuel run. Driver throttle input, clean air, dirty air, high line, low line, drafting, passing a car, gotta hit the brakes? How much was burned getting off of pit road, is the car pushing or loose? Debris on the grill, engine temp, how much was saved by turning the car off under caution, tire wear, circumference, rubber build up? Then after all of that, will that tablespoon of fuel you saved, be at the right place for the fuel pick up, at the right time?

Every single one of these has an effect on the precious miles you can squeeze out of the car. Einstein himself couldn't get any closer than the teams already predict. Jr's crew told him he was going to run out on the back stretch, he made it to turn 3. I'm not sure how much more precise you can get.

Jr and Latarte knew they weren't gunna make it all the way.
They gambled assuming coasting across the line would get them a top 10, vs pitting and starting 25th with 2 laps to go.
It was the right move. (Proven even moreso by Hamlin vs Kenseth) Easily the 2 fastest cars on the track, running 5th and 4th respectively. Hamlin stayed out and took 10th, Kenseth pitted and only got 14th?
You have a better chance coasting to the finish, than you do passing 20 cars in 2 laps. That's what it really comes down to.

I dislike the pushing of Harvick by RCR. That's a rule that needs to be looked into in my opinion.

I've never like the pushing under caution that happens, it indeed does need to be changed.

Anyways, nice to see some variety in the top 10, also a great run by Stenhouse.👍

"I'm gonna win! I'm gonna win!... what the hell? No fuel? DAMN IT!!! (🤬 x3)"

That was my best Dale Jr. impression of what he was probably thinking after running out of fuel on the final lap. As if the 2011 Indy 500 finish wasn't dramatic, this was its own last-lap drama. Wow...

Up next... NASCAR Nationwide going Midwest at Chicagoland, and Cup is going to Kansas.

Just managed to see the final laps of the race today...

Plenty of last moment drama in the long American classics! 1st the leader crashes in the last corner in the Indy 500 and then the leader runs out of fuel in last corner in the CocaCola 600.

Like Small_Fryz said, why is Jeff Gordon doing terrible at the last few laps? So many races he could have won and then this crap always happens.

I don't know if any of you watch 'Inside Nascar' on Showtime, but since it's a premier channel, there's no editing of radio talk so you get to hear all the cussing across the radios throughout the race. I keep thinking to myself, how much MORE interesting the races would be, if I could hear the full blown radio chat going on. Not just the things Fox/Speed allow us to hear. So much more passion, frustration and emotion going on then Fox ever lets us know.

Did anybody see that article on Yahoo and other sites about Brian Vickers skydiving into Daytona? Pretty cool huh? The article said that he has jumped around 75 times in a three year period. That's insane! I went skydiving last fall and it's indescribable to be honest. If you haven't done that yet don't wait any longer!

Here's what's on tap for the top three series:

• NASCAR TRUCKS at Kansas (O'Reilly Auto Parts 250) on Saturday afternoon
• NASCAR NATIONWIDE at Chicagoland (STP 300) on Saturday night
• NASCAR CUP at Kansas (STP 400) on Sunday Afternoon

And if you love NASCAR Cup on FOX, this is sadly the final race of the 2011 season on FOX. The next six races after that will be on TNT. All the other remaining Cup events will be on ESPN/ABC starting with the Brickyard 400 on July 31.

Good luck to all drivers and teams this weekend. No matter who you love in any level of NASCAR racing, best of luck to all this weekend.

you can thank the FCC for that 👎

:( I love NASCAR on Fox... one last Sunday of...

BOOGITY BOOGITY BOOGITY! Let's go racin' boys!

OH BOY HERE WE GO AGAIN:

http://nascar.speedtv.com/article/cup-kyle-busch-richard-childress-in-altercation-sources/

Richard Childress had an altercation with Kyle Busch in the Camping World Truck Series garage area after the O’Reilly Auto Parts 250, sources confirmed Saturday night.

NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp confirmed that NASCAR was looking into the rumors of an altercation following the Camping World Truck Series race at Kansas Speedway.

The altercation happened in the garage area about 30 minutes after the conclusion of the race, according to the sources, who indicated that Childress initiated the altercation.

Childress likely was upset that late in the race, Richard Childress Racing driver Joey Coulter and Busch had a tight battle for fifth with contact on the final lap. Busch tapped Coulter on the cool-down lap following the race.

Not surprised at this, though I'm actually surprised to hear it was Richard that (Reportidly) ran over to Kyle and began the brawl. I guess this is the new NASCAR TV ratings formula: " I can't win, wah" start stupid 🤬 with people, repeat.

At this rate, I think I'll just avoid watching any race Kyle Busch is in because of the following outcomes:

1. He'll win
2. He'll bitch and start trouble with another driver.

Unless there's more to it than what this article mentions, you're both over reacting. A little bump on the cool down lap, to let someone know you aren't happy with the way the last lap went, is all of the sudden an outrageously heinous act?

As for the championship picture, all I can do is laugh. He's 25, Jeff Gordon is the only modern day person to ever win one younger than that, at 24.

Its not just this incident. He's done crap like this multiple times and its annoying.

Edit: On a happier note, I found this hilarious comment on NASCAR.com:

"Bayne has wings....I Nickname him Rapture!!"

I'm in stitches right now

Edit 2: Oh man, what a finish. Edwards ran out and Allgaier ran out, but he still won the race. That was crazy.

Great finish to NASCAR on Fox.

Now it won't be the same for the rest of the season...

EDIT: I was thinking, why not alternate channels every weekend? That will allow each station to broadcast 12 races each. You can make it go, Fox - TNT - ABC/ESPN. That way you have an evened-out season of broadcasting. Just my 2 cents...

The bump was uncalled for, as Coulter passed him cleanly. Busch just started crying that a developmental driver passed him and ruined his bushwhacking for the day.

Then he proceeded to get his ass kicked by a senior citizen who had enough of his garbage. It's about time somebody did that to him. It's a shame he still wont learn from it.

I said it before, I'll say it again: Pussy of the year, all years.

Blue deuce! Gettin' it done! I still wonder if Brad could have won the race if the lead he had on Dale Jr. was three seconds or less. He basically just outsmarted Dale Jr. It was a good race for what I was able to see. As for my boy Jeff Gordon, he had a nice 4th place finish. I still prefer him P1, but I digress.

Up next... Texas for Trucks on Friday night and in Cup, what a lot of fans call NASCAR's most boring track- Pocono. The Pocono race will be the TNT debut of NASCAR for 2011.

You only see so much on camera, it's naive to assume that the 'clean pass' is what Busch bumped him for. Even if it wasn't, a little after race tap to say "I wasn't happy with <insert event>" Is perfectly acceptable in my case.

As for Childress, Busch did the right thing not fighting back. Had he fought back, you'd all slander him for hitting a senior citizen. No matter what he does, you'll say it was wrong, because you're just biased against him. Remember, I'm not even a Kyle fan, and I can still see your blatant biased.

Dale's team screwed him. They told him to conserve fuel and he didn't need to. He was running Brad down, he might not of made it, but he would of been a lot closer. Brad had plenty of gas after the race to burn out and still make it to victory lane, Jr pit 5 laps after him. Absolutely no reason for them to tell Jr to save. Jr's interview skills suck. He seems to hate the camera.

Brad is better at saving fuel, you don't know if Jr could have made it.

Dale actually said after the race that he ran out of fuel right as he crossed the finish line, so no, he couldn't have caught Brad. Personally, I had no idea that you could just push in the clutch entering the corner to save fuel, and I'm surprised that I've never seen anyone else do it considering that it's clearly very effective. Maybe it's very hard on certain drivetrain components.

I had seen it done once before this. Tony Stewart did it in his 2009 win at Pocono.

5:03 is when you can first notice it.
