Not the best of days for the PL teams in the cup today..Brighton knocked out Newcastle...Wigan-Bornemouth, Bolton-Sunderland, Fulham-Blackpool and QPR-WBA all go to replays..but there were wins for Chelsea, Villa and Spurs..West Ham-Man United is on now.
 
Chelsea with a demolition job again, 5-1 and Ba scored his first two goals in the blue shirt.
City and Spurs with comfortable wins, 3-0 each.

United is 1-0 up now, goal by Cleverly. :)

Ugh, 1-1, Collins with a good header.

That was Pardews fault, he named a weakened team, i know that Ba has left and Cabaye and Ben Arfa are out but Cisse, Gutierrez, Taylor and Collocini are fit and didnt play..

..We need to inmprove in the second half, West ham look good! the Smalling-Rafael partnership down the right isnt working..

My thoughts on the loss to Chelsea:

At the end of the day, I feel the league is more important. However if I was in charge of Southampton, then I would of rested Jose Fonte against Chelsea.

Happy we didnt lose..but not that we got a replay, its a match we dont need! City will be happy that we are play more games than them wearing ourselves out...

Man United/West Ham vs Fulham/Blackpool.

Crystal Palace/Stoke vs Man City.

Leeds/Birmingham vs Tottenham.

Southend/Brentford vs Chelsea.

Only 7 out of 16 are 1 team vs another. Instead of this team or that one vs these guys. I say scrap replays and go extra time/penalties in the first game.

All of the team of the year are from the Spanish league, I find it hard to believe that not one premier league player played well enough to make that team. Especially as Chelsea won the champions league.

Swansea just don't have the squad depth to deal with such a busy January. I'm not sure what will give way first.

But Sepp Blater hates England and English teams. To be honest, I though Falcao would get goal of the year as well (and he deserved it)

Yes, the Spanish league has some tremendous players, but for the entire FIFPro World XI to come from La Liga is, well, extremely strange... and this is atleast the 5th year running without one single Hearts player too :irked:.
 
It's hard to argue with the attack, maybe Van Persie could've beat Radamel Falcao, but I don't quite think so. Pirlo maybe deserved a place over Alonso.

Defensively though, how is there not a single Chelsea player after that Champions League campaign ? Marcelo and Alves over Ashley Cole ? :crazy: Defence is not the strongest aspect of the Spanish teams imo.

Perhaps the least convincing award was Guardiola's second place manager of the year award.

Falcao only seemed to gain popularity after a couple of performances in 3rd quarter-late 2012. Whereas RVP was running circles round defenders from the start of the 2011/2012 season up till now.

It's just the same bias rubbish from blatter. I lost any respect for him when he was commenting on champions league finals. "Barca-Madrid would make a great final" (Utd Chelsea) "Two teams from England distorts the level playing field in Europe". Vintage Blatter.

It's supposed to be but surely they wouldn't have voted for a team full of Spanish based players.:yuck: Marcelo, Alves, Pique and Alonso are very lucky to be there, bit a joke really.

I can't find a source at the moment but he said the one about England in 2008 and the Spanish one in 2012.

Ozil, RVP, Mario Gomez, Lahm, Joe Hart, Yaya Toure, Bale and Neuer have been better than who's taken their position IMO... And that's only off the top of my head, hell, I reckon Drogba should be ahead of Falcao because he got big goals, like the FA cup semis and final, every round in the Champions League knockouts as well...
 
The only player id have in that team is RVP..apart from that the team is spot on IMO..
 
I agree, RvP deserves it more than Falcao. He has been incredible this year.

But also, Pirlo instead of Xabi Alonso...?
I mean, he orchestrated the midfield of a team that went undefeated in the league and was almost singlehandedly the inspiration behind Italy's performance in the Euro... but Alonso was definitely the better pick...
