Just letting everyone get a headstart I'm sure. ;)

Nico must be wondering what he has to do to get a break on a Sunday after a promising Saturday, if it's not him watching his own wheel overtake him in Suzuka it's this.

Very impressed with what I saw from Grosjean, I don't really remember much about his first foray into F1 but I seem to remember he didn't really take the paddock by storm. Also more quality stuff from Kobayashi, hoping for good things from him this year.

Glad that Button got the best start to the season, Hamilton was unfortunate (but could've also been a bit happier on the Podium...), Massa should probably start making "Will race for food" signs now, Ferrari must be almost to the end of their tether with his mediocrity.

I don't have anything against Massa personally, but I'd much rather see a driver in his seat who could work wonders with the Ferrari, like Alonso does. And this is from someone who doesn't even like Ferrari (or Alonso for that matter :P)

Bit risky when you sandbag in a race, but I think HRT will win still.

In all seriousness though, can't wait for next weekend. :D

I think that the car carried Button.

Yep. Seems to be the general view of today

BBC have got Australian wrong.

Honestly I know it's funny to mock HRT for essentially being there to make up the numbers (or not, as this weekend turned out to be), but I think it's admirable that they are competing in their third straight season as a low-budget team. F1 is extremely expensive and even just surviving in the sport is tough as a backmarker team.

That being said, Karthikeyan was being stupid in qualifying.

Apparently neither HRT had power steering active, which explains why they were going so gingerly in practice, and were 2 seconds shy of Marussia during qualifying.

De la Rosa stated that they should be able to catch Marussia when they have their power steering working in Malaysia.

They also lacked DRS in qualifying as well, which is worth around 9 tenths. Karthikeyan has said that the team is having trouble with cooling, and major issues with hydraulics, which should all be sorted by China the latest. He sounds very upset with the team, and so did Pedro, both angry that the team said they were ready when they were anything but.

I dont know if he is an idiot or not but he was an idiot in this case. He can cause some serious injuries if he keeps up this attitude.

Thanks for the videos 👍

I'll save them with the other "unintentional incidents". Have a feeling I'll need to quote those again soon.

Power steering for HRT will definitely make the difference between missing the field and being comfortably in it.

Hopefully De La Rosa can help them further develop the car and get more speed out of it as the season goes on.

How many races and championships does Jenson have to win before he stops getting lucky and starts winning off of his own skill? A lot of the paddock said that Vettels biggest rival would probably be Button, button comes and wins the first race and its the car. Nevermind the fact that he just beat Hamilton in the same car, fair and square.

I'm not saying Button will win the championship, infact I still think Vettel will take this one. But some of the excuses people come up with to not accept that Jenson is actually good are ridiculous ^^.

In relation to previous pages comments, not this page ^^.

I think Williams has a excellent car, unfortunately:

Maldonado, had a fatal error on the last lap, (windows blue screen lol)

Senna ... was touched by the toro-rosso at the first corner:

maybe your car has suffered damage.

after all, I think the teams that were positive surprises are> williams and lotus.

What's all this about how 'lucky' Button was? Usual BBC rubbish, Andrew Benson is a hardcore Lewis fanboy.

So he has the fastest car again, he's proving that 2009 wasn't just a fluke, he put in a dominant performance today (or yesterday) just like drivers tend to do in the fastest car. The question is can Mclaren keep up development or will they do a Brawn and drop off at the end of the season?

WHOA, simmer down there. You know that image is shooped right? Click the link >_>

What did annoy me was how all through qualifying the guys were like "When will we finally see Red Bull dial their cars up and show us what they can really do" as though they were just plodding around for the entire time.

Button makes things look easier than they are. Where others would look aggressive and fast he's just effectively and consistently clean, and just as fast. Then he keeps it up throughout the entire race, making the most of the tires, fuel and the car in general, and it seams it's just the car carrying him to the win.

He leaves very little to chance, so I think it's very unfair to say he's just lucky.

👍👍👍

Button is a brilliant driver. I think what gives him the edge over most of the field is his state of mind, whenever you hear him on the radio to his team, he never seems like he is panicking or on edge like some drivers suchas Hamilton, even if he is told there's a problem with the car he just gets on with it. In my opinion button and vettel are very equally matched(apart from Canada last year) imagine if those two were in a team together, who would be the number one driver?

Really?

What about Mark Webber's? "Guys I'm not feeling too BLAURUHFSWOIFARGOUARHGOAR... I've just been sick"
"Understood Mark, box, box, box."

Dunno whether its something to respect or not that he decided to race despite being full of flu. >__>

It might be a legal pass but it was everything but clean as you can clearly see Maldonado correcting his trajectory to close the door on Grosjean and probably due to a miss calculation crashing into the front tyre of the Lotus and breaking its suspension... quoting Brundle (for the 3rd time) «very rude of Maldonado»

Am I the only one to see him change his trajectory and go with all four wheel off the tarmac (0.17s on the video) just to close the door or maybe even ram the lotus?

Further more in the beggining of the video you can clearly see Grosjean right on the back of Rosberg and he backed off because of the yellow flag, something the Maldonado didnt do and took advantage of.

But God is great (for those that believe in him) and karma is a b%$#... he got what he deserved in the end.

I agree that the yellow flag thing is downright dirty and unsafe but even Grosjean has said that Maldonaldo took a fair line in the corner and simply carried too much speed and out-braked himself.
Though I don't agree completely with Grosjean (he was just as stupid to put his car in a gap that was going to close), the fact he concedes that Maldonaldo's line was ok closes the book on this.

You think Pastor turned into Romain. Romain thinks Pastor simply just went too hot into the corner.

Honestly, there are far more obvious dirty moves from Maldonaldo elsewhere, and this one was a fair and relatively clean move. I'd still blame Grosjean for expecting a gap and putting his car in a position it really didn't need to be - races are only lost in the first couple of laps, what did he really have to gain trying to push his car past on the outside there? Equally though I can't blame him too much for trying.

Basically I think you and others are making too much of this incident when the victim himself has moved on. I don't think Maldonaldo needs to change his behaviour in this particular scenario - though he does with regards to the yellow flags (though he could have missed them). Grosjean has other chances to shine and he perhaps needs to learn there is too much to lose trying to drive wheel-to-wheel in corners which don't favour it against very aggressive and erratic drivers like Pastor.

So Ferrari have changed their tire use. Now they're good on the harder tires, but worse off on the softs. Massa didn't have much of a chance since they put him on softs again after the first stint.

Haha, that was legendary, good of him to try and race though I thought 👍

On today's race:

Button 👍 👍
Vettel 👍 👍
Hamilton
Webber 👍
Alonso 👍 👍 👍
Maldonado 👍 👍 👍 :ouch:
Massa 👎 👎 👎 👎 :scared:

Everyone else was pretty much neutral as far as I saw it, some unfortunate situations (MSC's gearbox, GRO's suspension breaking, etc).

Oh and does anyone else think that the SKY coverage is super cheesy? or is it just me that thinks they're trying way too hard and instead just looking like prats?

I don't mind Damon Hill. He's no Eddie Jordan, but he does his job alright. But for me, Brundle is carrying it all in these formative stages. We'll have to wait and see if they can iron out the creases.

Yeah Martin is ever reliable, his dry sarcasm is brilliant. To me though, there's no chemistry between these three like there is between Jake, Eddie and The Chin.

Granted there's only been one race thus far, and it wasn't terrible, but wasn't really gripping either (the pre-race stuff I mean, the race itself was brilliant) but I seem to remember the BBC's coverage being pretty polished right from the off, also Jake is believable as a fan of the sport, Sky's equivalent doesn't seem to be to me.

Agreed, as much as people seem to hate Jake I thought he was brilliant myself, and I also thought Coulthard/Brundle was a brilliant pair in the commentary box and overall it was much better.

Sky seem to be trying to highlight the stats to much, the BBC were also keen on there stats but not so far to have a dedicated station on the matter. In a few years time (When Sky's contract expires) I believe this will be back on BBC full time.
