Watching the recap. Those white lines mean very little on this track it seems.

Vettel reprimanded and Red Bull fined 25,000 Euro over his post-race donuts. Full story soon.

And not a single 🤬 was given that day.

Eh? The wheel to wheel stuff with Grosjean was totally fair, Kimi was entitled to keep the inside and he did. Grosjean gained the place by going off track so he gave it back. That's all there is to it.

Plus he couldn't defend against Massa, his tyres were 48 odd laps old by then. There was physically no way he would have been able to hold on to that position. He was 2 seconds a lap down to drivers around him. It would have been idiotic for Kimi to fight.

your argument he couldnt defend against massa is ridiculous, because this applies to rg also. he couldnt defend against either, and it happened same lap, in fact a couple of corners.

He is a douche for unecessarily defending/running rg off the track, which proved pointless. Also he could have cost lotus 2 dnf, which would be a disaster for a team that need all the funds they can get. Also remeber rg let kimi pass in germany, conclusion kimi was a douche!

This is hardly the first time a car hasn't been immediately returned to parc ferme at the end of a race. How is it any different to those that stop on the track in the last lap? They don't get back for quite a while.

If a car stops out on track they have to provide a good reason to do so. Hence the penalty for Hamilton last year in Spain.

The reason most cars are allowed to stop out on track is because:
1. They crashed.
2. They retired from mechanical trouble.
3. They stopped at the end of the race due to mechanical issues (concerns about gearboxes, alternators, KERS, etc).
4. Fuel.

Fuel is usually penalised as the teams can accurately estimate how much fuel they need so they have no excuse for running out. But its not clear if they are always penalised after races for it - certainly Hamilton's penalty set a precedence for penalising running out of fuel in qualifying.

Also, I believe we see a lot of cars always stop at the end of the pitlane after a race because presumably this allows the team to at least push the car back to parc ferme fairly promptly. Presumably the FIA allows this as an alternative to driving the cool down lap.
I don't think we've ever seen a car stop out on track away from the pit lane or in a difficult place to retrieve quickly without there being a mechanical issue after a race.

Qualifying is completely different to the race when it comes to running out of fuel. There is no advantage to carrying enough fuel to finish the race but not the in lap, the difference over a full race would be next to nothing.

Hamilton was penalised because not having enough fuel to finish the in lap in quali can make a huge difference when you're only running 2/3 laps.

They actually penalised him under a rule which states the "car must return to the pitlane/parc ferme under its own power" or something like that if I remember correctly.

Point is, there is a rule about having to return to parc ferme asap and to me this is a more logical reason to the penalty than "we don't like hooligans". If it was just about the doughnuts, they would have simply told him off for it. The FIA aren't dumb enough to penalise him over something so petty without a good reason.

Fortunately the FIA does publish stuff ya know:

FIA Sporting Regualtions
43.3 After receiving the end-of-race signal all cars must proceed on the circuit directly to the post
race parc fermé without any unnecessary delay, without receiving any object whatsoever and
without any assistance (except that of the marshals if necessary).
Any classified car which cannot reach the post race parc fermé under its own power will be
placed under the exclusive control of the marshals who will take the car to the parc fermé.

Senna dive-bombing Prost at Suzuka

I don't see how it can be on par with an incident that did lead to both cars crashing out and had repercussions when it came to who won the championship that year. It would have been easier for Kimi to give him room, yes. But in the end they both got off easy.

Incredible, Vettel truly is the Jimmie Johnson of his sport.

No I'm pretty sure it was for the donuts.
If you look at rule below, it looks like it was due to unneccesary delay as he had no problems with lack of power. I can't remember 100% about this but I don't think Lewis got a penalty for doing doughnuts as I assume he got back to parc fermé in time in some of the races at Silverstone as he did it on his way to parc fermé after final lap of races.

Yes but what I'm saying is the fuel reason specifically only applies to qualifying.

Anyway Alonso did something very similar to Vettel at Valencia in 2012, minus the donuts, and wasn't penalised as far as I recall.

What is this? The NFL? I just won my 4th consecutive title and I can't act happy? Happiness and being fun are a crime here too?

FIA = Fun Isn't Allowed.

I'm glad Vettel done what he did. Ridiculous how strict over small things like this the FIA can be.

They need to give the F1 champions, champion patches on their fire suits like NASCAR does with their drivers.

Vettel would need XL size at this rate.

There you have a case of the FIA being inconsistent, but I still think they have a justifiable reason to penalise this stuff, otherwise why have a Parc Ferme rule at all?

Hmm you can keep the cheese.

No, lets not do that.

Added weight, no thanks. It's not as if you go throughout a race without being told about how many championships each driver's won.

No. We don't need corny Americanisms in F1.

Schumacher had a star for each championship won on his Helmet.

That was quite enough.

You mean, like champagne spraying?

That still doesn't change the fact Seb had no idea he was walking into a winning team though.
I don't think that this is entirely correct. When Webber moved from Williams to RB, he chose the (then) mid pack RB over the Renault that Alonso was in the process of winning a championship with.
He had enough information available to him to know that RB was on a serious upward curve, and I find it difficult to believe that Seb didn't that something pretty special was in progress when he joined a little later.

-------

I have made no secret that I dont particularly like Seb, but I still despise the conversation that goes on here after every time he wins. Yes, the car is damn good. He is also damn quick.
Also, I hope all of the detractors noticed him go from 17th to 2nd on track in the space of 15 laps today.

Wonder if part of the fines go to charity, would make me feel better knowing these funds go to a noble cause rather than it being used to fund Bernie's gold plated glasses.

Still no apologies then? For the guy that CALLED IT RIGHT ON THE MONEY back in Monaco? None?
By which time Seb was already 21 points clear of 2nd place? You're quite the mystic Meg.

Oh, and you'd do well to remember this...

How about Grosjean, 17th to 3rd! Drive of the day for sure.

And congrats to Sebastian Vettel, 4 times World Champion. Thats how you celebrate a championship, donuts on the front straight!

Brilliant alternator management from Vettel, he did get the strategy perfect though. Webber's luck is getting worse and worse, 3 retirements in 4 races through no fault of his own.

Another one for the Anti-Vettel brigade.

Quick to forget all the jokes directed at my comment eh? Months later, who was proved correct? Me. You and others were very quick to point out how wrong I was back in Monaco, and now here you are, proclaiming it was as obvious as I saw it back then...how fake.

Tell you what, take the blame to the Lotus moron who aired that over the radio to millions of younger viewers. Not my words.

Shame he couldn't be bothered to help Webbo back to the pits in Singapore, eh?

Yep, a true modern tragedy.

No, the blame is on you for not paying attention to what you are posting. Don't blame the video if you linked it and posted it here.
