Yeah, he's a great driver. Kimi, Lewis, Nando? All great racing drivers. There's a difference.

The argument goes that any one of those three in the RB would easily win the title like Vettel has done, but when you reframe the argument - could Vettel win the title with the cars they have drove, the answer is, at best, not definite.

The answer is simple, nobody knows.

It's not just about the car though it's the team, Red Bull nail the strategy and the pit stops much more frequently than most of the teams. It seems that whenever a rival has a car to match Red Bull they fail to convert their pace and whenever a team is working brilliantly their car isn't quite fast enough. Red Bull usually have a very strong car in the race and if it isn't then it is in qualifying.

Do I have to quote Senna?
" And the main motivation to all of us is to compete for victory, it's not to come 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th. "

Sure, there's proper good scraps in the pack, competing for that point that equals X amount of millions that's invested to make that X% increase for a better package, but ultimately, the goal of every racing team that ever started out, was to win. No team has ever been created for the purpose of coming 10th or 14th. Even Minardi, Jordan, Arrows competed to win.

If the broadcasting company wants to show me footage of the scraps happening down the field during the race, great, but it shouldn't be the focus.

So, you would rather watch Vettel circulate more or less alone for an hour and a half on his own and not watch epic battles in the mid pack? Webber/Hamilton, Perez/everyone were great to watch. A motorsport fan will appreciate a good battle anywhere on the track. Sure, a battle for the lead would be better, but I thought last night was a great race, even if the guy I cheer for lost 2 spots on the last lap.
By the way, does any one know what happened to Webber to lose another spot after Hamilton got by?

I just learned that Rosberg started on extra-scrubbed tyres. Apparently he didn't put on new ones on his 2nd hot. No wonder they were shot so early on. Also just learned he had to save fuel in the later part of the race. The poor ****. 4 races and he still haven't had a fair finish. 2 DNFs, team orders and ****** luck.

Also I might have to go back on my earlier statement saying Webber's move was a racing incident. It looked too damn dangerous and uncalled for. He just cut across him in the middle of the track.

If you put Fernando or Lewis in the smae car they would probably do the same, win. But Vettel is in that car and what is he doing? winning. The matter of fact is that you can get 26 points from a weekend, 25 for the win and 1 for the fastest lap, Vettel took 26. What more could he do this weekend?

Look, I am not a Vettel fan, I am a Lewis/McLaren fan but just don't get how much stick he gets for being...a great driver? He drove a good solid race today and deserves his praise the same as someone like Grosjean.
??? I just quoted the guy saying it was an easy win. What more do you want? Vettel was by no means the star of the race.

I'm starting to think we should go back to taking best results out of a season and not count every damn race.

I'm not sure that Rosberg's finish was **** luck. The starting tyre would have been some kind of strategy call. Don't know what, but those tyres didn't wind up on the corners of the Mercedes by accident. Having to save fuel is just a function of how hard he was fighting at the start of the race. It happens. Running low on fuel is not luck either, they choose to underfill the cars to carry less weight.

Originally you said it was lucky, that isn't the same as saying it was easy.

True they all want to win but I don't see how that makes the race boring from our point of view.

If you're watching to find out who wins then you may as well just read the results after the race. Save yourself a few hours of "boring" 21 cars running round out of the top spot. If you're watching for the racing then two great drivers running wheel to wheel would excite you whether for 1st or 21st .

Di Resta was amazing. Was good to see some evolution in his driving. 👍

A great car needs a great driver to win and a great driver needs a great car to win and it was always like this! had Senna won the WCS with the Lotus?
Webber has the same car as Vettel, what has he done today?

It is. He was lucky to have an easy race with everyone behind him struggling/fighting.

I'm not sure that Rosberg's finish was **** luck. The starting tyre would have been some kind of strategy call. The strategy and under-fueling the cars were just the icing on the cake. In hindsight he should've just let everyone go without fighting. The unlucky parts is due to the fact that he was fighting with someone throughout the grand prix(on the dusty parts+occasionally in dirty air). First he was fighting off much faster cars which ate his tyres. Then in the second stint(where he was supposed to cruise) he got held by a Caterham, which lead to the Mclarens coming right at him to destroy his tyres again. In the third stint Webber kicked him back further. Everything was working against him today. That's ****** luck.

What's bothering me is that nobody takes him seriously. I honestly think he's just as good, if not better than Hamilton.

So if Rosberg had raced away for a lights to flag victory without any pressure you would be on here posting about how lucky he was? I think not.

What I found shocking was Alonso's thinking he was still free to use DRS after having to pit for a stuck flap. Nature of the thing most likely is that it can't be completely fixed during a race short of garaging the car and giving the system a good going-over. As driver he should have understood that and Stella should have been on comms reminding him. After their Malaysia howler that's Ferrari's second major screw-up this season.

I think they fixed it the first time hoping it was a one off, with the mechanism affected by debris (which has happened to others). Then it happened again, so he didn't touch it for the rest of the race. I don't see what Ferrari did wrong. It looks like there was something broken that limits how far the flap can lift, allowing it go go past vertical, then air pressure kept it up.

Not surprised to see people calling Vettel's win luck. Surprised though, that people are claiming the Pirellis were changed to suit the Red Bulls? Whu? The Red Bulls have been horrible on tire wear for the past few races, and suddenly when everyone else has tire problems, it's because those quick wearing tires were changed to suit the Red Bulls?

The only prior DRS flap-stuck-open failure I can remember affected Schumacher, and was terminal. I was surprised the Ferrari crew could get Alonso's flap to close.

Alonso's failure was of a different nature.

The bit to pull the wing down had failed and so when he released the bit holding it up the wind got in and pushed it up.

So pretty much what I had guessed.... :D

NOW, I remember why I don't like Vettel. He reminds me of Janosz the artist from Ghost Busters 2! What a weasel...

He probably couldn't, and neither could they. So I don't really see your point.
No, he couldn't. But, they did.
Exactly my point

I am not the broadcaster. I am simply the viewer. If they chose to ignore Vettel and show me these exciting battles down the pack for 90 minutes I would be ecstatically happy. But they don't. They just follow Vettel's rear like Newey & Horner do in the hotel room for 90 minutes.

Give me a broadcaster that shows proper wheel to wheel racing, hell even if it's Bianchi vs Pic I'd watch it over another Vettel borefest. Because 10 laps into my recording yesterday and I was already flicking over to Motors TV to get some proper racing.

You missed one of the best races in a few years because of that.

It was ok but I wouldn't say one of the best :D

I wish Kimi had a race like last year, I was hoping for him to storm the field and entertain me! God knows what happened to the Lotus, looked so good all weekend and when it matters they were nowhere. Saying that 2nd and 3rd isn't that bad but its only because the guys behind were pointlessly fighting and Di Resta was on the wrong strat.

Pur-lease
By the sounds of it, China was better than Bahrain.

Particularly, I enormously enjoyed laughing & giving the double V's at Vettel when Hamilton finished 0.203 ahead for third.
Now that was worth recording.

Because Red Bull either didn't exist or was uncompetitive then. Virtually every world champion has won in the fastest car. People never seem to criticise Mansell in '92 or Senna in '88 for this, when they dominated in cars streaks ahead of the rest in a very similar fashion to Vettel.

They actually show very little of him when he's out in front. He got coverage at the beginning because he was fighting for the lead with Rosberg and Alonso, and they were still in touch with him for the first 10 laps or so. After that, it was pretty much only his pit stops they showed.

This race was broadcast very well, the amount of battling we saw between people like Perez, Button, Grosjean, Rosberg and Webber was fantastic.

I totally agree

As someone posted couple pages before this race gave the Bahrain track plenty different views/opinions now .I never liked this race in the past but yesterdays race was entertaining .
