The race today surprised me, like California. Very fun to watch from start to finish. Really liked watching all the drivers get sideways having to catch their car. If people are spinning out on their own, then they're having to work hard inside the car, which I like

This new car has improved the racing everywhere that it has been at, except for Daytona

I don't see Dodge around for a while.

The only team that could fit as an engine builder, car builder, and multicar team that isn't either a lifer for their current make (MWR, Roush, Hendrick) or currently too successful now to even think about a change (JGR), is RCR...... and if they wanted RCR/RCR was willing to take the money, they would of made a deal by now.

PREDICTIONS FOR 2013
Gordon doesn't win, but does have another incident with Clint Bowyer
The new SC car changes nothing, disappointing people.
Jimmie Johnson wins the Daytona 500
Brad Keselowski pulls a Vettel and dominates the year a la 2011 F1
A new track that everybody is in love with in one of the top three series disappoints all, while those people that praised it call for its immediate removal.

I'd just like to point out that I'm 1/5 on predictions so far this year :sly:

Sounds like the Cup series is going to start using the road course qualifying set-up they use in Nationwide.👍👍
New NASCAR Sprint Cup Road-Course Qualifying Procedure Announced: NASCAR announced that the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will implement the group-based road course qualifying procedure used in NASCAR Nationwide and NASCAR Touring Series competition during its road-course events at Sonoma Raceway and Watkins Glen International. Under the new procedure, cars will qualify in groups instead of the traditional single-car qualifying runs held on oval race tracks. "The change will add an exciting element to road-course qualifying," said Robin Pemberton, NASCAR vice president of competition. "Fans will be treated to new strategy and increased competition with several cars on track at once."
The new qualifying rules for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at road courses are as follows:
· Cars attempting to qualify will be divided into groups. The number of groups, and amount of cars in each, will depend on the number of cars that practice for the event.
· Group assignments will be based on final practice times.
· Each qualifying group will be on-track for a set period of time, determined by the Series Director.
· A car's best lap time during the group session will be the qualifying lap time of record.
· A group's time begins when the first car receives the green flag at the start/finish line.
"This is going to be a terrific new format for our NASCAR weekend," said Steve Page, president and general manager of Sonoma Raceway. "It will intensify the action, with multiple cars on the track at the same time. It's a very positive development for our fans."
"The new format of qualifying at Watkins Glen International enhances the fan experience which is our top priority," said Michael Printup, president of Watkins Glen. "Qualifying on Saturday for our Cheez-ItTM 355 at The Glen is even more of a not-to-be missed aspect of a weekend of high-quality racing."
The new format will debut with the Toyota Save-Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway on June 23 and will return at Watkins Glen for the Cheez-It 355 at the Glen on August 11.(NASCAR)(4-22-2013)

Pretty cool, Valentino Rossi tested Nationwide:
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/107011

He did really well. Did the same thing in an F1 test a few years back for Ferrari. It's like Rossi could've been champion in whatever motorsport he picked, he just happened to be keen for MotoGP.

I hope the Doctor will try some ovaling in the future! :)

And here is (i think) and extended info from the Kyle Busch News: Rowdy x Rossi

Like seeing Rossi dabble in Four wheel territory. He's usually does pretty good, which tells me he literally could go anywhere he wanted and do very decent.

Hope this ends up into something...... Unlike the bit Kyle did with Kimi (Which was admittingly worth it to see my favorite F1 driver of all time in my favorite racing series, the Trucks)

Kimi set his expectations a bit too high. He did good for his debut. I don't think Rossi's test will come to anything, but who knows. He's tested F1 before and everyone started the rumors that he would go to Ferrari and replace Schumacher.

I just see it as a fan of motor racing, who also happens to be a professional racer, getting a chance to test a car. 👍

So, wrote an article for Beyond the Flag (An off-shoot of USA Today). Any thoughts?

I have no doubt in my mind brad will be a future Hall of Famer. His determination rubbed off on me during the 2011 season. Especially when he broke his ankle and came back to win Bristol. After Gordon's done, Brad will be my main driver. He will become only the 5th driver to win more than 3! He's only going to more and more of a foil to Johnson. Just like Gordon was to Earnhardt.

He's decent but I think his team mate has more potiental greatness leaves a legacy team 48 Chad Knaus & Jimmie Johnson have ALREADY done that he will be the 3rd to 7 and the first to get 8 go get'em Jimmie!

What's with all the Toyota drivers getting penalized?

Martin Truex Jr.
Johnny Sauter
Matt Kenseth

Who's next? Better start getting suspicious over that #18 team :p

Niop
Holy crap, I wonder how much power that engine was making.

893 instead of 892 probably... Is it me or do NASCAR seem much stricter on penalties this year?

Also why did truex get penalised?
