What happened to XxxTreme Motorsports? Didn't they say that they were going to run this year?

Owner is in hospital last I heard so I doubt we actually see them.

The reason for replacing Landon was they couldn't work out the money part of the contract and he walked away I guess. I don't know any other details and David already had history and would ask for less money I bet.

I think 29 will stay and Kurt be in that ride, possible get back the 33 and use it for the 3 for Austin.

Yes I do believe so. RCR wanted Kurt which they basically have now in one of their cars to a degree, he already sits in their meetings, and Kurt had great relationship with Dodge. Now RCR is not a top Chevy team, probably 3rd behind Hendrick/Stewart and when money speaks then I see him wanting a top team. You also noticed a trend of him having family backed drivers for his cars with Brian Scott, Paul Menard, Brendan Gaughan and Tim George Jr all had family money.

They will fill that seat without issue and they wanted to be a Dodge team this year but nothing ever was in the works. Their plan was to be 2 cars with Regan/Kurt but just never took off.

It's a good business move as the more funds you have, the less you have to worry about buying and funding equipment. Those drivers are all fairly decent in their rides.

No.

After 2013 they have 0 Cup sponsors signed on, Menard's Contract is up this year and it is believed Caterpillar's is as well. This is what gives the Dodge rumors traction, granted I don't see it happening.
 
I think it's a mistake bringing that number back. It was unofficially retired with Earnhardt's death and it should remain that way. Same goes for the #43. If/when Petty Enterprises finally kicks the bucket with racing, that number should be retired too.

Honestly there are ton of numbers that could be like the 7 would be one for me. If anyone is to use it, it should be either Earnhardt or Dillon.
 
I still don't see Dodge coming back nor do I see RCR going with Dodge. Those rumors just seem really farfetched.

I can see Austin replacing Burton in the #31. I think, it'll depend on what kind of a year Burton has.

I do agree depends on alot of Burton and he seems to know his is pretty much on the out anyway. I'm not a fan of his but I have alot of respect for him and hope he gets a fair deal in the end.

Why do people forget that Earnhardt spent a good amount of the early 80's in a Bud Moore Ford?
Granted he didn't take the 3 with him, but he wasn't always Chevrolet and RCR like most paint him as.

Not with the #3. I believe he originally used the 15 then the 2. When he went to RCR he picked up the 3, which Richard Childress had been driving before him.

Ricky Rudd also ran the 3 before Dale and was the first to win a race for RCR.
Before all of them though, Junior Johnson won a lot of races in the 3 with a few different manufactures, so the 3 really isn't all Earnhardt's number.

Dale actually ran his first NASCAR Cup race in a #8 Dodge Charger back in 1975. His first full ride was in the #2 'GM Car' for Rod Osterlund in '79, then his crew chief quit and Doug Richert, who is still bouncing around NASCAR, filled in for 1980 when he won the title. In 1981, Osterlund sold the team to J.D. Stacy, who had at least sponsored other teams and at most bought them, Dale stayed for a bit, but jumped to RCR, who already used #3, quickly.

It didn't last long. Earnhardt moved to Bud Moore's #15 T-Bird for '82-'83, Earnhardt having Wrangler onboard, then went back to RCR, in the #3, in '84 where he remained until his death.

Errrm... Turbo, Petty Enterprises killed over in 2009.

Aside: I still think Kyle Petty could do something. Own a team, help run one of the smaller teams, or drive again.

Don't give me that look. You don't win races AWAY from plate tracks AND be in contention for titles (1992 specificly) without something. He's been out of racing for four years now? Great, means he shouldn't have any lingering issues and is fresh.

That would be after Kyle is done I believe? Adam went a few years back, and I don't know of any other Pettys...
 
Richard, as the owner and driver of the #43, willingly put his replacement driver behind the wheel of the same car. Several different drivers have driven the #43 car since Petty retired 20 years ago. Why retire the number now? Maybe Petty would rather his legacy be honored by knowing that his car will continue to race, even after he is gone from this world.
