RACECAR
My mistake then, misunderstood that bolded portion. Also, where's a 94? I don't remember seeing that anywhere, certainly didn't at Daytona and I don't see it on Jayski. I still think there's a chance the #30 could be for him as that has no full time driver behind the wheel for the time being.

30/94 is the part time truck. Chase Elliott is running short tracks in a Turner #94 which is throw back to his dad's number. Go look at testing this week at Martinsville and it's there but is his K&N series scheme. I don't have a picture of it right now.

The deal is the part-time Turner truck has Chase, Ryan Truex to drive it which Ryan drove it at Daytona but so far that's it. If Hendrick takes owner ship of the #94 but has Turner build the truck and use all Hendrick team then that will open a 5th Turner truck which would allow Nelson to run Martinsville race that he would like to try for a win after finishing 2nd in October.

I just don't know how that will play out because I'd love to see Nelson in trucks again!

Edit: actually after thinking on it. You can run 5 cars during a race as long as one is on limited bases, so I think it will depend on sponsorship for Nelson and Turner saying yes.

The Ray Evernham/Melling Racing Legacy...

Except that Bill never ran the 94 for either team..........
The 94 is simply a Turner truck entered under Hendrick, like the SHR cars are just Hendrick cars entered under the SHR banner. Unlike JRM, Hendrick does not own even a little bit of Turner, so the 4 team cap doesn't come in place.

So who else thinks Quicken Loans sponsoring Penske in the Indy series may be the start of Ryan Newman's re-hiring at Penske when he leaves Stewart Haas?

It would be interesting. Putting him back in the 12 would be great to see. I don't think Alltel would be back on the car though.:grumpy:

If Quicken Loans is willing to sponsor Newman, Stewart will do whatever it takes to keep him at SHR. Most drivers wind up leaving teams because they can't find a sponsor. Drivers with sponsors can pretty much write their own ticket. Paul Menard and Danica come to mind here...

I think this weekend at Bristol will be more of a durability test for the Gen-6 cars. Short tracks can really be meat grinders for cars and drivers because of the stop-and-go action. I actually think Martinsville is much more of a meat grinder than Bristol. But I think after this race, the only remaining sort of test for these cars is a road course, and we'll have to wait until June at Sears Point (or whatever it's called nowadays) to see the Gen-6 cars put in its paces in anger at a road course.

Jeff Gordon didn't even do his own stunt driving during his Pepsi Max "hidden" camera video.

Its Vanilla
He's referring to another stupid legacy post. Bill Elliot drove the 94 for his own team. Not for Melling or Everham.

First off it wasn't really all that stupid or anything. Chase normally runs the 9 but can't because Hornaday already uses it, so next best thing is 94 that was used in the family.

Any time someone says "stupid" and "legacy" while making fun of the same post, you can very safely assume they are referring to someone else, and not to you.

Yeah Bill ran the 94 after he got fired by Junior Johnson in about '93 for his own team. Never won in it, so not much of a "legacy"

Wow, really? I can't believe he didn't win once in the 94, he was in it for quite a while.

In fact by 2000 everybody thought Elliott was more or less done an would never even come close to winning again.
We were wrong.

Legacy = 0 wins and apparently, 1 Daytona 500 win = career. I really need to learn the new math.

Sorry man, I wasn't referring to you.

Bowyer is driving a borderline throwback DEI car this weekend during Micheal's days at Dale Earnhardt Inc. Dale is definitely going to be smiling, looking down from heaven when he sees Bowyer driving that car. It's nice to see Napa back on the 15!

Again, why would he be considering he probably never met Bowyer? And don't use the "L word".

Let us break down how off you are:

DEI throwback? No. Not even close. DEI 15 had massive NAPA and 15 logos, but the rest was fairly subtle. This is the MWR 15 template with a pallette swap.

Dale Smiling? Dale hasn't been smiling since Jr. left, if he was then. Moreover, Toyota. That alone defies the logic.

NAPA on the 15? Had it been closer to DEI's, fine, but it isn't. This is the modern day, thanks to a lack of stability for driver lineups, and sponsors for that matter, we can't associate today's stuff with yesterday's. We know Gordon has the number 24, Johnson the Lowes 48, and...that's really it. The rest is up to the carousel.

And to add on to that, nobody here buys this BS being spewed.

The roof is yellow just like the 2001-2002 15 car.

Well Clint did drive for RCR, so maybe earnhardt will be pulling for him. It's not really a throwback car because when Michael drove it, it was a Chevy.

Sorry if this offends anyone (or everyone) but...

Dale's dead. Been 12 years now. Dead people don't do stuff or have feelings & smile or pull for other drivers, because, you know, they stopped being alive.

I mean, I liked the guy as much as anybody else back in the day, but at some point you have to move on.

With that said, my money is on Kyle Busch this weekend. sadly.
