We will see if this was a bad or good decision from vettel in the end of the championship.

2012 Vettel won by 2 points... and we all know that vettel is faster. I know at least...

If Vettel was actually faster, he wouldn't have needed Mark to turn his engine down to pass him!

Seb is a 🤬

You can't screw your team mate over like that and then think you'll make it better by saying sorry.

Interesting but not surprising comments from Mark Webber in that post-race interview... he seemed to be suggesting that he might quit Red Bull...

Hamilton would love his spot.

Multi 21 !?

Some quotes:

Red Bull's Mark Webber: "We [he and Seb] have had a lot of history, I respect Seb. It is still very raw at the moment because we had a plan before the race.... I should probably stop now.

"It's very, very, very hard for Seb to sit there when we are told to bring the car home safely. I turned the engine down and was reassured twice that we would not use the cars against each other. It's very hard for people to understand the situation, they think they know what went on but they don't.

"It puts a lot of heat on certain people. Unfortunately there is no rewind button but it will put some pressure on certain people. We have three weeks now before the next race and I will catch some waves on my board in Australia."

Sebastian Vettel says he owes Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber an apology face-to-face because "I messed up today".

He added: "I don't care about the criticism. I owe an explanation to Mark and the team and that's it. For sure it's not a victory I'm very proud of because it should have been Mark's."

Also, RBR have cancelled the team photo .

edit: The Swisse multi mock up is hilarious is you have been bombarded with them as much as Aussie viewers have.

Webber should of went to Ferrari when he had the chance , they favor Alonso there but he would at least have a better chance.

I am not so much mad that Sebastian took the place but the way he did it was far too aggressive. He looked desperate.

This is awesome, we're getting to Jason Plato-Matt Neal or Yvan Muller-anyone levels of on and off track tension.
I'm definitely loving a bit of drama, keep it going guys! Maybe Helmut Marko can stir the pot during the week too.

That was probably the grumpiest podium I have ever seen.

He would've passed him if the his pit stop was as fast as Webber's. And when I say that Vettel is faster I'm talking about consistency. Poles and race pace.

I doubt Webber would want to go anywhere else after Red Bull. I think he's just going out with a bang, and not put up with Seb anymore. It's quite clear he's tired of Seb expecting him to simply move over. Mark isn't like that, and I'm expecting firework when these two meet each other on the racetrack this season.

I'm not having a problem with Vettel winning, but his attitude with which he did it. First there was the attitude with which he sent the message "Mark is too slow, get him out of the way". Just a voice of him telling the team what to do. It seems to be getting clear that Seb feels like he's the one carrying Red Bull to the WDC 3 times in a row, and it's about time he therefore should tell the team what to do in order for him to win. As a team manager, I'd have a serious talk with Seb to tell him who is in charge, who he is working for, and who is preparing his car in the first place. The more titles drivers win, the more arrogant they get. Seb is still very young, but he's pushing it too far. Someone needs to tell him to cool off, and Seb will probably mature like Alonso has in the past few years.

As Horner said, Seb somehow was desperate for the win. Even though a 1-2 was in the bag a long time ago and both drivers could've cruised to the finish, avoiding unnecessary stress on the engines for the upcoming races.

Nowhere do I have a problem with Seb winning, he is in my eyes the fastest driver on the grid. Plain and simple. But when he starts putting himself above the team, and ordering them what to do, then I'm having a problem with it.

Same goes for Mercedes, although the decision clearly came from Brawn, and not Hamilton.

I'm not a fan of any driver in particular. I like Jenson Button and Kimi.

But from the point of view of racing emotion, in last 2, 3 seasons Vettel, Alonso and Lewis are in the top... for various reasons.

Who are they? :dopey: :p

Some quotes:

Holy crap, the double standards from Mark. I guess he doesn't remember Silverstone in 2011.

I think you should follow team orders, even though it's a shame that we, the fans, might miss out on a good battle, which we would've if Vettel followed orders, but it's much more important to bring both cars home safely, because from a team perspective, there was nothing to gain, only lose.

It's just the double standards. Holy crap. If X does it, it's okay. If Y does it, it's wrong.

You raise a good point, honestly. But look at it from Mark's perspective: why did he do any of the things he's done since his tenure at Red Bull? Couple that with the actions of Vettel today and you can see why he's the more rebellious one of the bunch.

I'm not sure if I completely understand what you mean. Could you elaborate?

Look at the point Bram is making and compare it your own - both are brilliant points and have made me second guess my own disdain toward Vettel after the race today, however, compare it to Webber and his actions at Hungary Silverstone with his sentiments of being the No. 2 driver, despite winning the race.

His actions at Silverstone in 2011 (?), defying the order to back off. I think quite frankly he's looking to prove without him the team wouldn't be where they are now. Yes, Vettel is faster and he has 3 titles to his name but I think he wants it to be known he's just as capable.

Of course this can all be nothing more than conjecture and it's something else entirely, but that's my take on things. If that's still confusing... it's 7 in the morning.

Haha, Mark Webber is so cool and team orders are so unfair! Aussie grit!!

2013 Malaysian GP:

Horner: "seb, maintain the gap."
Vettel: "no."

Oh my gawsh!!! Vettel is such an arrogant brat who unfairly ignored team orders! Aussie grit!!

Ahh the double standard. Nothing new in F1.

Vettel takes the win in Malaysia in a wacky race! So much going on in this race! This will certainly warrant several rewatches from my DVR.

It's hard to understand how some people have difficulties with simple logic around here.

After the last pit stop Webber was infront of Vettel and if he was driving freeily, he would have finished 1st and Vetten 2nd. But team decided to perserve tyres, engine, gearbox, whole material actually and told both driver not to push and to calm down. Webber did obey team orders, Vettel didn't! And this is very selfish move from Vettel and I have no respect for him!

It's just that simple!

And if there is anyone to blame it's Pirelli. Because of the tyres teams have to perserve them and drivers are unable to push the car 100%. And if you can't push 100% you need to obey orders to get the better result. Yes, we don't like orders but with cheese tyres there is nothing you can do.

I'm sorry if this has been posted earlier, but if both followed orders, the standings would be awesome 1-2 for the team:

Driver Points
1. Sebastian Vettel 33
2. Mark Webber 33
3. Kimi Räikkönen 31

but since that little brat did not follow order:

Driver Points
1. Sebastian Vettel 40
2. Kimi Räikkönen 31
3. Mark Webber 26

:/

People comparing this to 2011 are off their rockers.

Vettel took advantage of Webber already being in Multi 21 mode, having turned his engine down and all that. Then here comes Leroy Jenkins in to overtake the "slow" car. Just ridiculous. Had they both been racing fairly in the same condition, I wouldn't have cared. And the thing in 2011 with Webber disobeying orders was that the orders were created on the spot, for Malaysia 2013, they had it all planned out and Webber would not have tried such a move had he been in Seb's position.

👍

This pretty much sums it up for me.

pretty much this, i'm not a fan of Vettel, and really didn't like it when he passed Webber, but the whole point of racing is to win on merit, and not be told to give it to someone else.

All this conversation is useless.

If Webber is faster and better than Vettel he can prove it in the following races don't you think?

Vettel won what he won because has been faster and better than his team mate. Whoever read these posts will think that Vettel only win races by doing "unfair (?)" passes on Webber. lol

This is normal in racing sports. They can be gentleman outside the car but once the lights go off their mind is programmed to race and to win. I don't blame Vettel.

No one has said Mark is the faster driver, that's not the point. Webber was the faster driver during the race. The only reason Vettel got into a position to pass him was because Mark turned his engine down (something Vettel was told to do and ignored it). I still can't understand how people are defending him when Horner, Newey and Vettel himself all said it was the wrong thing to do.
