Can someone please remind me why they stopped production on the Ford GT again? I don't remember and would like to know because if they can pull this power out for the GT500 the same could have been given to the Ford GT if kept to this point since they run the same power plant.

Don't really know the reason but 2006 was the last production year... Maybe because of the economy? I'm talking out of my ass so i'm most likely wrong. But I agree I wish they kept making them.
 
Probably the economy. I think it was always limited production on purpose, but I don't think it sold as well as Ford thought it would in the end.



Edit: Though on the other hand, that was before everything collapsed on itself, so Ford maybe just misread market conditions when they debuted it.

From the 1st shot of the car it shows that the ground is wet, even had its windsheild whipers on.

around the middle of the Video you can CLEARLY see the car is kicking up Mist from the wet road course, again the cars whipers are on.

Close to the end of the video where it passes some sort of truck you can hear the sound of tires runing threw wet pavement, you can also see the suns glare on the surface of the road. from the momement the Car start to enter the garage, thats the only time the pavement is dry......

I can't wait for this to get on the road. With as many GT500's as I see now...

I've seen probably 3 of them today alone, all within 20 miles of each other. Mustangs of all years are really popular around here. I've seen probably over 100 of them (spanning from 1965-present) in the last 3 days alone, not inlcuding all the ones I've ever seen because that woulde be like seeing trillions of Chevy's on the road. Mustangs alone. Or for a better comparison (if you live in America), like as many pickup trucks you'd see every day. That's about average. Here they are about as common as hatchbacks overseas.

The road is damp, as if as the sun came out the course began to dry, you could still hear the sound of wet pavement when the car brakes as it passes by. when the car approched a Up-hill corner (like in the Still) it was failry dry (common since thats were a Road would be at its Dryest after a shower cause of Rain flow) but on level roads its still kinda wet.

. Still the course previously wet. from the begining of the video and at the End. but its probably how they edited the video

Dude, whatever. The track is clearly COMPLETELY dry from 1:03-1:24. Believe what you want.
 
I agree. Totally dry on that section between 1:03 and 1:24.

Jesus. Looks like the sweep spot is going to run around 5,200-5,250 RPM where the torque and brake horsepower harmoniously meet. :drool:

I actually like this one over the previous ones. This one has the same attention to "moar power" AND handling. With all that wizardry Bilstein stuff it should handle much better than the previous GT500's.

F you GM, you're late again to the party-your own party too. Your 5th gen Camaro SS could barely compete with 2009/2010 Mustang GT's much less the new 5.0's. And now your heralded ZL1 is now completely worthless (thankfully). Should of left the Camaro history and just released a new RWD coupe that isn't based on the hugely bloated Zeta chassis.

And you, Dodge, just give the Challenger more power already it SO deserves it! Why aren't we seeing a 600bhp+ Challenger straight off of Dodge showrooms yet?
 
Horsepower and torque always meet at 5250. Part of the equation that is horsepower.

No, not if your engine cannot rev that high. I had a motor that met at 3000 and it redlined at 4k.

Mustangs would be so much more cool if it wasn't for the people who buy them... Had another GT try to get me into racing today... He spun his tires at the light and all I could think was "loser."
Then again he probably thought the same of the wuss in the sti who wouldn't race. :indiff:

One thing I'd really like to see is how this GT500 (with the "world's most powerful v8") would compare to the Laguna Seca. 👍

Look it up. Normal gasoline internal combustion engines cross at 5250. Do you have a dyno sheet for that engine to prove it. If it doesnt rev to 5250 they never cross

No I don't have the dyno sheet as the engine was ripped out 15 years ago. Then again it had more torque than hp by a longshot.

I could be wrong though.
 
It's a mathematical fact.

Horsepower = Torque X RPM / 5250

Therefore it follows that torque and horsepower will always meet at 5250rpm.

And the sweet spot will be the RPM range that wheel torque in one gear is greater than or equal to the maximum wheel torque in the next higher gear.

If it could only rev to 4000 then yes it did have more torque than horsepower, as mentioned it is easy to figure out with the Horsepower equation. Also as mentioned the crossover point is always 5252 on all engines, if the engine can't rev that far then the torque will always be higher and never crossover.

I dunno about you guys but when I see a nice car I usually like to nod or wave at the driver. The douchebags take that as a sign to race while real car guys nod back. So really, it all depends on the driver mentality.

Don't know if this has been mentioned but the GT500 will have launch control, and you can even set the RPMs at launch, I'm on phone so I don't have a link right now.
