Motor Trend reported a 0-60 time of 3.5 seconds and 11.6 1/4 mile.

So, probably closer to 3.7 0-62.. Not bad considering the weight and 2WD.

I expect great things from these new Goodyear G2 tires. A launch like that is already looking good for them.

Aside from the Lightning and Raptor, I do not believe any SVT has ever been offered with an auto.

I'm tempted to trade in my car for one

Blackbird.

In my opinion the new look of the Shelby is the meanest and most gorgeous. The new Camaro looks like *** compared. I would love to have a new GT500 but Im just closing on a much cheaper C5 Z06 Vette today. Bang for the buck the new Shelby is where its at (and I've never been a mustang guy)

Nice video. ^

In addition to the GTR? Damn only thing I'm adding to my collection is a GTi VR6.

The car is putting down so much power that the rear tires might as well be made of Teflon when it's on the dirt.

For the novelty of owning a Shelby, go for it. :sly:

Mod-wise, I think your 5.0 will hold better in the long run. GT500's just haven't been very popular with guys going after big power (similar to Chevy guys starting with C6/GS models over the Z06).

I don't know just the Shelby's are unmistakable. Plus with 662hp I wouldn't really be looking for more power. :p

but gt500s have alot more Forged internals and the reason why u see more modded stangs is just cost of owning one there are tons of GT500s modded on the east coast man speaking of wich any one else going to the ALL ford day in Carlisle PA next week( there is a all gm,dodge and one specifically for corvetts as well)http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/

Don't live on the east coast but I wish there were more mustang clubs here.

Modded is one thing. I'm talking about big power; 800+. GT500's, compared the Mustang GTs don't handle that power very well at high levels & I'm not referring to the engine's capabilities. Now, I can't comment on the new one, but the old ones were also heavy & had a nasty habit of eating through tires. These cars also start to have issues with the trannys & clutches with added weight.

BUT, if BB is after just a fun cruising car that can get the tail end out, these are probably amongst the very best. Lots of fun to drive.

I'm sure there's little exterior mods that can help with that. I like that Saleen front end on the GTs right now.

But more power is better power. You can be like Clarkson; "POOOOWWAAAHHH!" :p

Yeah the Getrag MT82s in the mustangs right now are iffy on power. I don't think you can put more than 600hp on that tranny, maybe less. Its a shame because the 5.0 is a great and capable engine. Needs a Tremec. If I end up supercharging it I could be close to GT500 territory.

Well any car getting being modified to have 600+whp should probably start having a couple transmission/clutch mods to begin with.

Supercharger? You know you want some snails. :sly:

Well I guess i should say. Look up any mustang forum for MT82 issues. You'll know what I mean. But I haven't had an issue for mine.

Turbocharging is still a possibility.

This vid came out just 27 min ago :sly:.

The music at the biginning is stupid and has nothing to do with this car, i know...

^1:22-1:30, 1:58-2:26......the sound is so melodious to my ears. 👍

cant wait to check out that vid when I get home ( at work and cant see video here)

I still can't get over the fact that the GT500 can do all of that for less than the base price of a Porsche Boxster S.

^Yeah, but just dont take the 2 of them to the track at the same time:sly:.

May not have been 200 but 196 is goddamn fast.

Freaking hot in that area, I mean the proving ground where I live for chevy and where they run the ZR1 is hot but kingman is usually a few degrees hotter. Nardo they probably did hit 200 due to different air temps and just enviorment.

Blackbird.

I didn't see the video but 196 is very impressive.

This car is amazing. It took Ford almost 50 years to decimate every competition, but at long last the Mustang is king, as much as I bite my tongue saying it.
