Bring it! Godzilla not scared. However I must say the Shelby is amazing for the cost, best bang for the buck out there and has really done it this time in the looks department.
 
I have one problem with this GT500, the lack of a loud supercharger whine like the 07-10. Otherwise the exhaust sounds pretty damn mean in that top speed run.
 
Well the GTR is about as fast as a Turbo and Im pretty sure the GT500 can't hang with the Turbo so I'd say not. But that's not it's competition.

No contest really. I like both cars, but the AWD in the GT-R seems to rule all right now.

It will happen sooner or later hehe:sly:. But im thinking about just a roll test like 60 mph, because i know from 0-60 and after GTR would and will beat it to peaces and around the track the same thing.

If i was an American i would probably buy a GT500. That price tag is very appellative:drool:.
 
I don't think anyone is seriously expecting a $60,000 Mustang to defeat a $90,000 AWD GTR. At best it could be one of those "Sporty Road Car vs. Sports Car for Road Use" tests. A bit like the late 90's when magazines were testing the M3 against Corvettes and Porsches.

I say leave the GT-R to its real competition with Porsche and Corvette. The 2013 Shelby can enjoy its crown as "Top Pony Car" for however long it lasts.

I too agree a match up between the GTR and the GT500 is pointless.

Plus it escapes the gas-guzzler tax and gets great MPG for it's performance.
 
What is the mileage, anyway? I get about 18 - 20 around town in my V6 ('09) when I'm not stuck in a parking lot (I'll get about 14 then) :lol:
 
They claim 15/24.

To the muscle-wars that have been going on for decades. Altough it is amazing that right now a purty Mustang could also challenge some of the best sports cars in the world, and for such a price.

Uh, no. It was that in 1960's. After 1969, Ford had nothing anymore on Ferrari & hasn't had any rivalry with Ferrari since.
 
^ After '69 they felt it wasn't marketable to compete in Le Mans anymore with the coming of the '70's emission regulations, it wasn't that they "had nothing" but basically that sounds right that there was no real rivalry after they dropped out

Edit: now that I reread the post "had nothing" can be interpreted differently with tone, my fault for being too literal, I guess I just said the same thing again :lol:

Ford's rival is and has been GM. It's silly to say otherwise.

Maybe they've released a couple of cars that could compete with Ferrari (or whatever brand), but that does not make Ferrari into Ford's "rival."
 
Purely GT40 and racing, not business wise. Business wise, it's been the big 3 rivalry forever
 
less than half a decade worth of international endurance racing against Ferrari does not make the two companies anything like true rivals. Again, it's the big three. Always has been, always will be. Trans Am, Nascar, etc etc
