On a side note, I don't see why everyone is blaming the referee so much, he made a blunder on that penalty but the rest of his calls were solid, I've definitely seen much worse.

Well, try saying that to Croatian coach Nico Kovač:

“If that was a penalty, we don’t need to play football any more...Let’s play basketball. It’s a shame. We talk about respect, but that wasn’t respect – Croatia didn’t get any. If that’s how you start the World Cup, we’d all better give it up and go home.”

Apparently the Japanese fans are also criticising the decision

Furthermore, 21/26 fouls were committed by Croatia, one of which was the disallowed goal that immediately followed the penalty. So it wasn't just the penalty

I've had enough b:censored:ing about today's controversy, and hopefully Croatia can put Cameroon and Mexico in their places. Now looking forward to Australia Vs Chile...

This is getting dramatic.

I thought Claudia Leitte's behind was much better :sly:

Definitely close enough.

But you gotta go with the classics.

Today's 1st game: Cameroon vs. Mexico.

I hate when people say this, just not counting one event, and leaving the ones after that one intact
Fervent follower of Butterfly of Doom? :p

Oh yes, Spain-Holland is also tonight.
I'd like to watch it closely, but really I only know I'll care about it if Memphis Depay gets subbed on.

Pressure is on the Netherlands tonight. If they lose this game, I can see them finishing in 3rd behind Chile.

México vs. Cameroon about to start, I hope they get the win against the africans :D

I thought last night was a good game because it was pretty entertaining and had many talking points, normally the opening games are fairly dull affairs

.....quite a few empty seats around for the Mexico-Cameroon game, although the weather there looks appalling!

Cant wait for Spain-Holland later, whoever decided to have that kickoff at 8pm on Friday night is a genius!

WE'VE BEEN ROBBED!!!! :banghead:

Edit:

WE'VE BEEN ROBBED TWICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🤬
It's a matter of time until México scores a valid goal that's not invalidated
:)

I actually kinda agree with second invalidation. Giovani was indeed off-side but the ref judge badly who touched the ball. Mexico wants but they just cant score

Mexico wants but they just cant won't let them score

FTFY.

Gio was off-side when someone from the opposing team deviated the ball from its original trajectory, not when the initial kick took place.

He wasn't, there was a defender and keeper between Dos Santos and the goal when the other defender flicked on.

Seems the match officials are as corrupt as the Fifa officials.

See what @Coxis wrote. The ref "saw" someone deflecting the ball and thought it was mexican who did it. I blame the ref and I don't at the same time

Mexico is way better, it's just a matter of time until they score

No wonder Gillette are World Cup sponsors. The refs are using their shaving foam to mark the toe lines for defenders.

And Mexico finally make the breakthrough!

Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooollll !!!!!!!

Viva México!!!!!!!!!!!
