Rica robbed of what looks like a certain penalty, then go and score anyway.
 
Ref turned a blind eye on what should have been a clear penalty. Astounding.

But no matter. Costa Rica got the goal they deserved moments later.

That was defintely a penaltly for Costa rica also 1-0 to Costa Rica now.
 
Costa Rica probably still feels robbed, but the refs can't try to rob that one since it's a clear goal.
 
How the hell the ref did not give that penalty I will never know. *Mind boggled*

At least they got a goal soon after.

It seems as if a confrontation might have happened right after the half ended. It looked like one broke out based off of the cameras that I saw from ESPN's coverage.
 
Costa Rica's best players would struggle to make the squads of the other teams and they look like winning the group...

A very well deserved victory for Costa Rica today and the first team through to the Group Stage - they out-played Italy in every department and deserve to win the group now.

England are out, and yet their misery will probably not be over just yet... the tabloid press is about to go into meltdown.
 
HOLY 🤬!!! Costa-Rica is going through. I've never ever imagined that. Outstanding team, they deserve it.
 
So that 2-1 scoreline next Tuesday. Might be worth putting a Tenner on that actually.

Costa Rica are the real surprise package of this tournament. A team that fully deserves a spot in the next round more than the other three in their group. Hard to pick whether Italy or Uruguay will progress.

Gary just pointed out a rather depressing fact, this is the first time in the history of the World Cup that England have been knocked out after only playing 2 games.
 
I'm not sure which is the bigger story in Group D- the fact that Costa Rica is leading the group or the fact that England is eliminated from the World Cup.
