Shaqiri scores a blinder for Switzerland.

I guess I'm about to watch my sweepstake team get beat and kicked out by France.

Is it just me, or does everyone on Twitter have a man crush on Shaqiri?
I think his calves look unnatural, personally.

Who do you follow on Twitter? :odd:
Well, to be fair, it was only during the first game. A lot of people on my timeline appeared to be talking worryingly romantically about Shaq.
He was awesome at Basel, on FIFA 12 Winter. Perfect winger mix. He's still good, but...there's just something not right with him for me.

Missed all the fun in the football earlier because of work, watching the France game with Phil Neville commentating and it does sound to me that he has improved...the Swiss are 2-0 up!

To be fair, he couldn't be any worse. He is still as interesting as a house brick though.

He has done really well as a pundit for the Beeb thought I think

Back to Suarez, FIFA could Announce his punishment as early as tomorrow, they are doing it quickly because Uruguay are playing Colombia on Sunday so they need to know whether they can pick him or not...

Shaqiri is one of the players we're strongly linked to... good news is he's scored 2 goals and he hasn't bitten anyone yet.

Another punishment I've heard is that he could have his goals taken away, which means that England would qualify and not Uruguay as Suarez scored both his goals against England, I wonder if it was an Englishman who came up with that! I suppose it could happen but I would get my hopes up!

Never gonna happen.

That is literally never happening in a trillion years and you are a fool if you believe it.

Well I'm Welsh so I don't believe it, I just saw it on Twitter and wanted to know what you guys thought of it...

You have your answer.... based on a sample size of 3.

Harsh sending off for Valencia - it didn't look deliberate to me at all.

Missed it... was watching some of the Swiss game.

Good chance they had there.

Deliberate or not, he jumped in with both feet off the floor, and because of this when his foot bounced off the top of the ball (which is about 9 inches high) it then went straight on to the other players knee. A cowards challenge, which could quite easily break a leg.

I've turned it over to the Swiss game for the second half too, which Valencia?

The one who's somehow gotten a new contract.
Hope he enjoys it. Really do.

I have to agree. Both feet showing studs.
It's quite surprising to see Valencia make a reckless challenge like that.

Cover for Rafael.

Nice hat trick for Shaqiri.... still not bitten anyone.

Have to say, no surprise he hasn't bitten anyone.. looks like he's already eaten a shop full of pies.

He's a bit on the porky side for a footballer!

Cover for Rafael.
I'm sorry?
Hello?
Rafael's a right back.
Valencia emphatically is not.

Anyway, every man on Twitter now wants Xherdan Shaqiri in their pants.

Didn't Valencia play right back for Man U on a number of occasions last season?

Not last season he didn't. At the start of 2011-12 yes and there he was superb.
But he only played there occasionally last year. Mostly because Rafael was injured and we don't have another right-back. (Smalling sickens me there)

Swiss game is a good one too 👍

I'm flicking back and forward every 5 mins or so.
