Man Germany is just dominating ball possession in this half. Really hope USA comes out harder this second half. And I really hope the Portugal-Ghana scoreline stays as is.
 
Just watched a video of Klose's world cup goals, pretty much all tap-ins.

The US and Germany advance into the round of 16. Ironically, the US advances due to the man that torched them in their match with Portugal- Ronaldo.
 
Shame to see Ghana go out, but I'm excited to see the US in the second round.
 
That was by far the happiest loss I've seen by the US. Now Klinnsy has to get his men prepared for Belgium, and hopefully Jozy is back in the mix.

People give Jozy a lot of flack for not producing in the Premier League, but at the same time forget that on the national team his presence is very vital in holding the ball. I would say that he would have at least helped beat Portugal and hold Germany to a draw.

But that's all moot now. The last time Belgium and US met was for a friendly and we got trashed 4-0, but Belgium in this tournament seems rather underwhelming in the easy group they got. In fairness, US looked out its depth against Ghana and Germany, but looked surprisingly superb against Portugal.
 
Why if Ghana won would the USA have been eliminated with same score?

That was a reference to the Ghanaian players demanding more bonuses before playing - they already had two players sent home before the match!

I'm glad Ghana are out, but I would have liked to see Portugal qualify - but they've been very disappointing yet again.

USA were out-classed today, but look alright - can't see them getting much further though.

Germany look solid and a good bet for the last 4 at least. I would not bet against them winning the tournament.
 
Can see the USA rocking Belgium to be honest.

I thought that the US would only go as far as the Round of 16 from the get-go, and IF they got a lucky opponent, the US would make it to the Quarters. But that is about as far as they realistically can go.
 
I'm personally in the boat that any win from here on out for the USA will be a surprise.

Glad that CONCACAF teams as a whole advanced out of group besides Honduras.
 
Portugal proved in this game that they were the 2nd best team inhte group. Unfortunately, the coach Paulo Bento wasn't intelligent enough to make the changes needed in the team for the mach against USA and Portugal can only blame themselves.

Congrats to Germany and good luck to USA.

Finally, a Uruguayan with some integrity...

Uruguay legend Ghiggia has criticized Suarez for his behaviour. Meanwhile the Uruguayan president thinks that allowing players to be sanctioned using TV footage as evidence is not right, while in the same breath saying that he didn't see Suarez bite anyone. :rolleyes: No matter that the FIFA regulations clearly state that players can be sanctioned if evidence of a serious infraction comes to light after initially escaping the attention of the match officials.

When the flippin' president can't even show some respect for the rules of the game, you know there's a serious problem. I find the whole 'closing ranks' around Suarez absolutely despicable. All the more reason then to applaud Ghiggia for his comments this evening.
 
Come on Adnan! Send those Koreans home.
(Or wait till about the 80 minute mark to start playing like Belgium have so far)
