Personally I don't think Van Gaal has it anymore either. Sure he's won some big games, but we've been truly outclassed by some much lesser teams too. Looking at the stats he hasn't done a whole lot better than him which someone of his level who's managed massive teams and come here and spent probably close to 20x the amount Moyes did we should be walking the league.

A point off top and fewest goals conceded? Yeah, talk about a disaster looming.

Obviously United have some problems but you can't overlook that they are where they are. Rooney is in terrible form and they are somewhat shot-shy (they're 'only' the 7th top scorers). But they're eking out the results they need. On the pitch, Manchester United are in a much stronger position now than when Louis van Gaal first took over.

If you want to poke fun at a team, just look at Chelsea. The defending champions have conceded the 5th most goals and have only just started to pull away from the relegation zone; they're five whole points ahead of the drop zone. Woo!

I was really, really hoping Spurs would batter them. Shame that they didn't.
 
I completely agree with what @Liquid is saying about United, yes the Football we are playing isn't good to watch but look at where we are in the league, we definitely need a few more attackers either in January or the summer window's though..
 
They are relying on clutch goals against poor teams. I personally don't see them achieving anything if they keep going this way.

But yes, laugh at Chelsea.:lol:


Although I am kind of worried that they may be back to their best, getting that 0-0 away to Spurs is massive, even if they parked the bus to do it. I reckon they might put together a good run of matches.:(

Ah, the classic "manage a team higher up, get relegated then get sacked into the following season". Except this one was weird. He was Director of Football at Torquay for 4 days before taking over a Yeovil side already relegated from League One. Five months into the next one, he's sacked with Yeovil at the bottom of League Two! Madness.

Wahey! We've hit 25 sackings this season alone!

That's weird. Not weird because Phil Neville is the #2 there but weird because Gary Neville has mainly done punditry since he retired and not a lot of coaching. It's a big ask to go manage a top flight team, never mind one in a foreign country, when you've no experience.

It's a classic case of "do well with a minnow, get spotted by a rotten big team" but what do you reckon? You could be facing QPR next season anyway if you maintain your good form at Burton.

Stick with Burton I'd say. If I was in that position I'd try to never end up at a team in relegation battles before I arrive. It's not worth the hassel ( ;) ) and you'll be judged and likely sacked after 2 months if you don't win all the games.

In other news it was 11/1 for Sturridge to get a brace, he just scored twice in 4 minutes. He could be exactly what Liverpool need to mount a challenge this year. (Unfortunately :lol:)
 
Liverpool have absolutely destroyed Southampton 1-6, hugely impressive by them, League Cup semi final draw coming up..

Gary Neville news came out of nowhere earlier and surprised everyone, his first game in charge will be against Lyon in the CL next Wednesday, his brother will remain in charge for their game in the Copa Del Rey and for Barcelona on Saturday, thanks for that Bruv! :lol:, this obviously means he wont be on Sky for the foreseeable but he will still be on the England backroom staff.

That Hasselbaink record at Burton is incredible!!

Liverpool are picking up some real momentum. Going 1-0 down away to Southampton just to go and win 6-1 is incredible.
 
I'll miss the analysis from Nevile and Carragher every Monday, whoever replaces him has a tough job to live up to.

I have to admit I am feeling a little jealous of Liverpool because of the way they are playing right now and the way United are playing, yes I know we are still third just a point of top in the league but I cant help feel that the way Liverpool are playing is they way United should be playing...

Just the one game on Sunday, three of the top four teams all suffering injury problems right now (lucky Leicester!).

Rooney out of the West Ham game and Wolfsburg on Wednesday with an ankle injury, he has been poor this season so we shall see how we do without him.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink unveiled as new QPR boss on rolling contract.

Reading have sacked Steve Clark after a poor run of recent form, he was set to be new Fulham boss but did a U-turn and remained at Reading so I think he was a dead-man walking since then, another one for your list @Liquid.

Back page of the Mirror today saying that Steve McLaren has the next two games to save his job, against Liverpool and Tottenham?!, good luck with that mate!

Finally, Real Madrid have been kicked out of this year Copa Del Rey for fielding an ineligible player in the last round, Denis Cherysev was meant to be suspended but Real claim they didn't know and are appealing.

I don't know the full story on that one, he was on loan at another club when he got two yellows I think, and the Real played him against Cadiz the other night, he scored and then was subbed pretty sharpish, maybe they realised we wasn't supposed to be playing..
 
He was on loan at Villareal, and he accumulated 3 yellows in the Copa del Rey last year, thus being suspended for the next game, this was apparently his next game and Real missed it.

Tssk tssk.
