The only way this sacking makes sense to me is if they have someone special lined up that can take them to the next level.(i.e. Not Moyes or Rodgers)

I did read on the BBC Sport Wales Twitter feed that Swansea did have a replacement from overseas lined up.

Unless you're megabucks like Manchester City or Chelsea, you're not going to be moving on to that 'next level'. Not to be dismissive or derisive but that's how I think it unfortunately is. Leicester and Jamie Vardy haven't even finished their purple patch before we see whether they suffer from Second Season Syndrome. For every Leicester or Jamie Vardy, there is an equal and opposite Ipswich Town and Michu.

Swansea should look at the Stoke City model. Tony Pulis stepped aside at Stoke and I think Mark Hughes has taken them to the next level but that improvement is slow and steady; they're signing higher profile players and working their way up the table. Regular European football? That's surely the idea.

It's still a bit hard for me to see Swansea as Premiership regulars but they've been up there a while now. Credit where it is due but you have to prove your worth every season. Charlton and Fulham, former "oh they're quite new but actually they've been there a while" teams, found that out the hard way.
 
I was pretty much referencing the job Pochetino did at Southampton when I meant taking a club to the next level, not City/Chelsea like.

Stoke too, though they've been more gradual.


I just don't see Swansea making much progress from where they are at the moment though.
 
Oh no, absolutely, it's really great to see the ethos Pochettino installed at Southampton. It really worked for them but they just couldn't quite get across the finish line and get that top 6 spot. I hope they don't go off the boil under Koeman; they play some exciting football.

Pochettino is a great example of getting rid of a popular incumbent manager (Adkins) and the gamble paying off. Fair play.
 
All Swansea can aim for each season is a top half finish and a run in either of the cups, we have always had the manager to do that and now in the last few seasons we have had the players to achieve that too.

No real word on the new manager yet, one name emerged today is Avram Grant but he has said he hasn't been approached yet, not sure I'd want him as new boss, Moyes still gets my vote for it

Bastian Schweinstiger banned for three games for violent conduct after his elbow/shove on Winston Reid on Saturday, Man United now have 10 players missing for Bournemouth on Saturday...
 
I've heard a rumor that Giggs is being considered for Swansea.
 
Games this weekend, there is an intriguing looking match tomorrow night but its all about the big game on Monday night this time...

Not expecting anything from my two teams this weekend after the week they have both had!

Alan Curtis to take charge of Swansea for the City game, he is a coach who has been there for ages and was a player back in the eighties when we were successful, Moyes has ruled himself out of the job, not sure if the Giggs thing is true, its all a bit of a mess at the moment....
 
Bit of a dull day in the PL, only seven goals in five games, Palace beat Southampton 1-0, Man City beat Swansea 2-1 with a last gasp winner from Toure after Gomis equalised in the 90th minute (:indiff::indiff:), Sunderland lost a key game 0-1 to Watford, West Ham-Stoke was 0-0 and Norwich 1-1 Everton

United stealing Van Gaal from Spurs is the best thing that could have happened to us.
 
When I saw that defence I knew we was going to have trouble. Fair play to Bournemouth though. Really hoping they survive the drop.

Van Gaal had a bit of arrogance to play youth team full backs who as well were shocking. Love how Joshua King ran rings around the defence and scored against his old employer.
 
Quite possibly the worst week for United in the last decade and it could get even worse if Spurs beat Newcastle now and replace United in fourth, really don't know what to make of Van Gaal right now and what he is doing, my head says he should be sacked but my heart says give him the season.

Respect to Bournemouth, they beat Chelsea and Man United in the same week!

Swansea lost 2-1 to City but the performance was better than its been in recent week...

Arsenal top of the table for now as they had a comfortable 0-2 at Villa.

This is the mindset that leads to having at least half of all managers being sacked before the season is over.

@Liquid's hitlist shows that.
 
The table at the end of the season is going to be Leicester miles away at the top. Villa and Newcastle at the bottom, then every other team on the exact same amount of points. Everyone seems to be able to beat everyone, and the only way to win a game is to be below your opponents in the league. Crazy crazy.
 
Dramatic end to the Spurs-Newcastle game, Spurs were leading up till 10 mins but Newcastle scored twice to win 1-2, Liverpool got a very late equaliser at home to West Brom to draw 2-2, Spurs could've gone in to top four with a win or draw but remain fifth, Newcastle out of relegation zone....
 
Fun fact. If Norwich and Swansea had won, Chelsea would currently be in the relegation zone!

I think if the Man Utd board see CL football as a doubt for next year then LVG will get sacked but I think they'd rather have him see out the season and line up a replacement for 2016/17 ready to take over during summer and get to know the player correctly. Maybe even bring a few from their old team. Don't really see that as much anymore but I think German players are more loyal, if you get where I'm going with this :sly:

Could be worse, my uncle flew from Perth to watch Spurs live for his 60th. :ouch:

Same problem for Utd as Chelfy - apart from Pep, there are no quality coaches knocking about at the moment. LVG has put his chips into some weird acquisitions - Blind and Bastien more precisely. Neither look up to EPL snuff.

Could be worse though...Falcao :lol:

I wonder if chelsea put a first buy option in the contract of 50 million too, and whether they will activate it or not.
