I'd say smaller stuff like the Continental Tire series to replace the car they are currently using.
 
I remember when the FR500 debuted, hope the GT comes out swinging with the same success. Not comparing it to any car, but it seems like it's a bare bones car even with all the new tech. Im liking it more and more.

Good job Ford, good job. I suspect it will outrun (comprehensively) a C7 Corvette for about the same money. Depends on how much weight they've taken off. Also, what M4? :lol:

Define better performance, 50hp more in a car that weighs more and can't handle as good as a Camaro (per Motortrend test, GT track pack vs SS track pack, 1LE?) let alone a Corvette? We'll see....... :p

You mean it'll offer more horsepower. :P

Weight and handling are factors for performance.

On that note, can't wait to see how those two compare.

I think it's a safe bet that the GT350 will be substantially better than the regular GT.

I see the GT350 as more of an equivalent to the 2000 Cobra R [dialed back slightly] rather than a sequal to the GT500 or regular Cobra. And remember, the Cobra R held it's own against not only the regular C5, but the Z06 as well.

I still take that with a grain of salt since on the track the previous GT is killing the 1LE (Check SCCA T1 end of season class points)

You mean a racing series where different drivers and teams decide race results, not parity matched cars?

Eh, a capable chassis is always a nice thing to have. I don't know the specifics of that series though.
 
First major problems are being reported with the 2015 GT Track Pack models equipped with the 6 speed manual. Apparently the check engine lights are coming on and blinking and then the engine blows. Several cars have done it under 2,000 miles. The issue seems to be ECU related, where it somehow advances the timing causing severe detonation issues, resulting in this (photo taken from a blown 2015 GT, stock car, not raced):

That piston has gone with quite a bang. By the looks of it, most likely when high in the revs.
 
The owner of that particular car was middle aged woman, so it's not likely, but it's tough to say since I didn't take the photo. Apparently she came into the shop complaining of a blinking check engine light. It went off, and she hit the freeway and the engine went kaboom.

I understand it's the Roar before Daytona. Hopefully I can follow the series next year on Fox Sports.
 
I have to say, if my brand new still-under-warranty car was to have something happen to it soon after I bought it through no fault of my own, I'd absolutely want it to be "shot humongous 🤬 chunks of the engine through the hood".

You get a cool story out of that that you don't get out of the typical "overnight the starter motor set the car on fire" or "the navigation system kept saying I was in Cleveland" recalls.
 
That is odd since the 5.0 engine is pretty much carry over from the 11 to 14 cars.

I would be thinking they tweaked the 5.0 in some way, and that adjustment came with issues.
 
That is a scary problem alright. If an old lady who barely puts stran on the engine gets chunks like that coming out of it, imagine someone who goes to trackdays often, giving the engine the strain of its life. It's a rather dangerous issue to have during hard driving. Hopefully Ford can sort this out quickly.
