Man this reminds me of when the 5.0s were out and I had just bought my '11 GT/CS. But that was from a careless tuner who messed with the knock sensors and several engines' #8 cylinder detonated. This is even more scary with them being stock with hardly any miles on them. :confused:
 
Bone stock C7 vs bone stock Ecoboost.

 
Not impressed. Traps 3-5mph slower than last gen V6 but also V6 Camaros, and only matches that of the V6 Challenger.
 
Not impressed at all.
Mustang got the jump big time and still only got into the low 14s.
Meanwhile the automatic transmission C7 hit high 11s with a poor reaction.

The two shouldn't be compared.

Also puts me off of giving an ecoboost a drive. Actually came to this thread with the intention of posting that I was thinking about going up to the dealer to give one a test drive. At this point I feel more inclined to spend some time in a fiesta or focus st. :indiff:

This. The timer doesn't start until you break the light beam by moving. That's why guys with highly modified turbo cars can sit there with a green light while the turbo spools up and still run a 6 second pass.

Why back out of the test drive? A test drive could change your perspective on the car.
 
Like others have stated, I am a bit unimpressed by the ecoboost.

The owner of that particular car was middle aged woman, so it's not likely, but it's tough to say since I didn't take the photo. Apparently she came into the shop complaining of a blinking check engine light. It went off, and she hit the freeway and the engine went kaboom.

I wonder how long she drove with the light blinking before she took it in.
 
I don't know why everyone expected the Ecoboost to be fast in the first place. The thing weighs as much as a train.
 
It weighs the same as a V6 Camaro, and quite a bit less than the V6 Challenger, yet at least in a strait line it comparatively under performs.

Could have been the driver. Not sure though.

Regardless the Mustang has never been much about what it is as delivered but what t can be.

Eh, throw a tune on it and rape V6 Camaro's all day long.

 
Well the EcoBoost is faster than these clowns. Took them 2m15seconds to cross the tracks a 1/4mile away. :sly:
 
Sorry, but comparing modified with stock is one of the most bone-headed thing i've ever heard.
 
The people who were expecting the Ecoboost to be fast is like expecting 1.6/2.0 Capris to be as fast as 3.0 ones.

I wasn't expecting the EB to run similar times to a 5.0 GT, but I figured it would be a high 13 second car off the showroom floor.
 
Of course it's not fair to compare modified vs stock, but it's worth noting when comparing factory cars that one may respond better to mods than another. It will be easier to get extra power out of the Ecoboost than any of the V6 pony cars.

Comparing a modified car against a stock car might work on specific aspects, but all-in-all it still is like comparing the graphics of a PS1 to an Xbox One and saying the Xbox One's graphics are way better. Kind of goes in with the saying "No 🤬."

Altitude may play a role here.
