Wow, that was a pitiful track test. He wasn't anywhere near the limit of the Camaro, he missed apexes in all three cars, he didn't turn the aids off on the Hellcat (and I believe the Camaro as well). He must have had the most confidence in the Mustang because that was the only car dancing around.

Hey guys! I have an idea, we'll put the track focused Camaro, the market focused Mustang, and the halo-trim Challenger against each other! That will teach us a lot.

Also Keef is right, that was some pretty amatuer driving, especially in the Hellcat.
 
They're just trying to find a way to sell magazines which nobody really buys anymore. If you want fair comparisons go to Edmunds and Consumer Reports (if Honda hasn't paid them off, of course).
 
3 seconds difference compared to Z/28... not bad

Still, a useless comparison though. Something's fishy about the way he drove the other cars. Almost as if he gave it his all in the GT but not in the other cars ?

It's always been like this though. The CAMARO IS the big Corvette with rear seats. The Mustang can carry a small family if four in comfort. Then, you have Chrysler which is just Chrysler.

The Mustang GT of the 80's had to deal with the IROC-Z. the low wide Camaro handled good and the narrow high Mustang didn't scrape its nose on every driveway.

To bad the IROC-Z was painfully slow. Only 190 HP from the 305? Horrid horrid cars.

Oh yeah, and didn't the Mustang LX have 225hp out of its 302 V8 at the time and was lighter?

Yep more HP and Lighter, the Fox may have handled slightly worse but it was a better car. Honestly even the 350cid 3rd gens with 235HP were slower vs the 5.0 Fox cars.

No, not really. They might share the same engine and transmission, but there's little similarity beyond that. A Camaro on the same trim level as the 2015 Mustang would probably be more comparable in terms of day to day friendliness, that is if you can stand the visibility of a Sherman Tank.

It was lighter, but Badasp5.0 is being very misleading with how he is quoting power numbers. The year the most powerful 305 Camaro had dropped back down to 190 horsepower (1986) was a bit before the year where the most powerful Mustang had 225 (in 1986 the Mustang was rated at 200), and the year prior the Camaro had 215 and the Mustang had 210; and when the Mustang finally got around to 225 in 1987 the Camaro had... 215 again. And in 1989 when the Mustang had 225 the Camaro had... 230.

Oh trust, I know. C&D was my bible from 1979. ;) My brother had an '87 5.0LX Hatch. My best friend had a brand new black '89 GT for his graduation present.

A co-worker wanted me to buy an '85 GT(Edit: I see you put 210hp 👍 ) over an '86 back in '95 because it has a carburetor. He just wanted to tinker with it as his '84 Vette had "Crossfire Injection" oooooooo :lol:

I stand corrected. I should have researched the 305 HP instead of going off memory. I incorrectly remember the 89 305 TPI IROC at 190 HP. I was also under the impression the 230 HP Camaro was the 350 TPI?

Just noticed something neat about the 2015 Mustangs. Ford went back to the original color scheme painted on the engine back in 1964 when they had the 260 and early 289s...black and gold. This was before they started painting everything blue. Pretty cool.

Yeah but you know why they were so horrid. It was the 80s man, the 90s went up about 40-60hp depending if it was the 305 or 350...but in the end they worse camaro. Even more so than the Fail-Body
 
Oh my Lord. Do we need to have continued debates about engine power? I was 11 and remember the coolest things on the Mustang were, the foglights, nets in the headrests and those 3 spoke alloys. Enjoy.
