Yeah that's probably why I've never seen 85. I'm right at sea level roughly.

What do you expect? Would you rather the ECU not pull timing and then grenade your motor because you are too cheap to put in the proper fuel? It's a turbocharged engine running 9.5:1 compression and 18psi of boost pressure! Its amazing that it can even run on 87 octane without blowing up.

Turbocharged engine loses power on low octane! In other news, the EcoBoost was found to be slower than official numbers when there are three passengers on board. Who would have guessed?

Never seen 85 and never seen 91; only 93. I've seen 100 at a Sunoco on vacation though.

Try leaving Texas. 87 octane is the typical "regular" rating in at least half the country.

In other news... I've seen quite a few Mustangs driving, but today I was able to walk around one parked for the first time. I really, really don't like it. It's much larger than I was hoping it would be (I still can't believe how long it is) and the front looks quite heavy handed and ungainly. I honestly like the 2010-2012 (not 13/14) Mustang better. How's this for an indictment? I think the Camaro hides its mass more effectively.

I've started to see the new Mustang on the road today. I saw about three of them today. Its stance and its style really stand out to me. Even nostalgia-happy me appreciates this more modernized Mustang.
 
It's a shame this car isn't sitting too well with fans as a whole. It's a love it or hate it model. Lots of hate and people saying they ruined it again, even going as far to label it the ugly stepchild like the II.

It has its fans but I'm around a lot of Mustang guys, in a lot of clubs et and its not very well received. I hear its so much nicer in person though.
 
I don't really get the Mustang II comparison. The new model has more power, unless I'm mistaken it handles better than the 2014 model and unlike the II, the new Mustang doesn't come with an awkward looking roof design.

But, maybe I'm the wrong person to comment on that, because I don't even consider the II as the worst looking Mustang.

For me, the worst looking one is the Mustang before Mustang II. For some reason i just dont like it at all.
 
I still like the way this car looks. The passenger side dashboard looks awful and the bonnet is too high, but other than those two complaints I think they did a great job.
 
I've seen quite a few out in the wild around here and I'm still not a big fan of the styling. A black GT drove past me today and while I think the front end looks pretty good, the rear leaves a lot to be desired for me. It just looks... kind of generic I guess, or boring.

I still plan on taking a test drive with an Ecoboost engine mated to a manual transmission, just to see what it is like.

I think it has more to do with the fact that the II tends to be the ugly duckling though I see your point.

The roof design with the II was fine, it was the short wheelbase and giant front overhang that made it look funky.

Maybe in America people think that, down here in Aus (on the net) I've not seen the hate.

EDIT: And believe me, I'm a dyed in the wool Ford supporter, favourite line being Mustang.

Yeah it's mostly us Muricans that I'm seeing it from. I see it all over social media. Hell, even the Mustang clubs I'm in don't consider it a real Mustang. It's a real love it or hate it model.

Guess they think a real 'stang needs a steel girder for the rear axle and a 7L v8 that makes 190hp.

As much as I love the old steel, we're no longer in those days. Need to get with the times. In my opinion this is.

To be fair there never was a 7L that made that little :p

People simply don't care. It's a shame considering how far the car has come.
 
Mainly because it's the first global Mustang perminently in Ford's lineup in other countries, as to why it is well received outside the states. The world finally will get the same Mustang as the US.
 
It's always the current fans who complain. Fans dislike change. Any kind of change. And they're most vocal about it.

I expect sales will be very good. Even in the US, where potential buyers will be more accepting of the Ecoboost than the internet wags.

(Personally, I'd still take the V8 over anything else, but then, I'm not a potential buyer, so my opinion doesn't really count.)
 
After the Fox and SN95, how anyone can dislike this car with its subtle cues to OG models without being a retro design baffles me.
 
I loved the Fox Mustang. Especially when it got the Pony 16" wheels. I just wasn't a fan of the SN95 interior, though I did want a Bullitt. I'm looking forward to seeing the Mustang GT next to the XR8 in our showroom.
