Those wheels remind me of the old 15" starfish wheels that Ford put on the Capri 280.

But me likey! Me likey a lot!
 
Apparently, the wheels are full carbon fibre jobs and are a first for a mass production car.

Ford hasn't brought a gun to a knife fight, it's brought the equivalent of a tactical carpet bombing with all these major announcements especially with the new Ford GT. :bowdown::lol:

Today is a bad day for me to change pants, apparently. I just had changed them after seeing the new GT, and now this!? :crazy: :drool:

Lean, mean and agressive, just my kind of Mustang. And with the new suspension layout, no longer will people doubt this car's abillity to corner. There's no need for extra power with this car, it's all about being lighter and more nimble. And I'd say Ford did just that.

And also, Jesus did Ford come out in the open armed to the teeth... The Ecoboost Raptor, the GT, this! They really want the world to know the true form of the unified performance division. :scared:

Oh, that sort of issue. Ok, so it does look a bit ricer, I can see where that complaint can come from (those wheels don't strike me as a good choice either). Maybe you'd say that it would look nicer without that bodykit?

Fair enough. But on the flipside, it should at least give it a tad bit more grip (although that can either a bad or a good thing depending on the person). Ford's choice, I guess.
 
I think we are witnessing the rebirth of the Total Performance Era.

Ford's coming onto the world hard to dominate everything there is to dominate once again.

And God bless their hearts, this new surge of life is the shot to the arm that Ford was needing for a long while. With Chevrolet soon pulling out of Europe and Dodge\SRT not even remotely interested in coming here, Ford can have most of the American performance market to themselves. And with the global program now standing, many can enjoy the thrill.

Ford wants their power back, and this Detroit showing is only the start...

The game has indeed changed, you're not wrong there. But Ford must be aware of this, or they wouldn't have released the GT with a Twin Turbo V6...

Yeah, I bet they are. That mid-engine Corvette might come sooner than we think after this...
 
Not sure about the looks, but added downforce almost never look especially good and the looks don't matter that much when it's lighter, more powerful, has carbon fibre wheels and independent rear suspension.
 
Maybe it's the wheels and the wing, but the R looks a hell of a lot like a Nissan GT-R.
