Trust me, the sheer awfulness of any Bay movie will leave mental scars. I'm still traumatized by the last transformers movie. :P

Anyway, back on topic. Just checked the weather forecast for suzuka, and looks like both fp3 and qualifying will be in dry conditions.

Pretty close. When you think about it, for us East Coasters it's 8AM, but West Coast it's 5AM. And for most Europe races, it's 1PM.

I always record these middle of the night races. Ironic that I'll stay up late for 24hr races (usually not ALL through the night) but I won't stay up til 3-4 for some F1 live.

I hate to think of the day I'll be living on my own, and possibly not have DVR capabilities for one reason or another.

Also, business as usual again, although Ricciardo snagged 3rd.

 
Merc did run a different program than expected, focusing more on Qualy pace. Ricciardo is the strongest out there, for sure. He's pushing that car hard.

Jenson's session was ended eary due to another PU problem, it seems.
 
Better question is why is Ferrari so far off the pace, FP3 is quite telling and they don't have much time to rectify what is hurting them. Also if they can't fix it by Quali...well then it will be a reverse of last week.
 
And Kimi ahead of Vettel. They're either holding back or they lack high speed cornering.

They ran a different program focusing on race pace and not qualifying pace. At the end (7 minutes to go roughly) they ran a qualifying simulation. Vettel got stuck behind Kyvat on his first lap then made a mistake on the second. They waited too long, in my opinion, to do a qualifying simulation.
 
Mercedes should have the front row locked out and I would bet on a Red Bull/Ferrari split on row 2.

Problem is Merc program isn't a solely quali setup it's a mixture of quali pace and race pace, with them utilizing a good quali to give Rosberg and Hamilton another 22 gap like Spain. As long as they have a good start. If Ferrari only want to practice overall stints they're already settling for trying to marginalize the main issue (lack of speed) and leap frog Merc via pit strategy.
 
Does Japanese TV still handle the world feed? There's something off with the framerate.

Mine is the normal 60fps/soap opera frame rate.
 
Maybe it was just a momentary issue. I noticed some jittering.

I will say the quality is like I'm watching in HD but I don't have NBCSN available in HD.

Team didn't have the astro turf pep talk. This wouldn't have happened if Korea were still on the Calender
 
He should put his thumb out like the Bruce Banner in the hulk tv show, that's how dejected he looks.

EDIT: If McLaren want to keep Jenson, like they say...they're doing about as good a job of showing it as they did Lewis. Keep letting people down McLaren...
 
I suspect that Rossi and Ericsson will have no issues being allowed to race since they weren't able to get a time in during Q1.

They completed their laps, so they do have a time, but Rossi is outside 107%.
 
Still don't see it being an issue. He had to slow for Verstappen's car, and Marussia isn't exactly well ahead of 107% to begin with on a clear track.

Stevens was, Q1 fastest was 93.015s, that makes 107% 99.526s, Stevens went 98.783s. I think Rossi could have gone faster.
 
Alonso: "I cannot do much more than this".

Alonso, Maldonado, Sainz and Hulkenberg all out in Q2.

The whole point of 107% is to prevent cars that are obviously too slow to compete from actually taking part. The only times it has ever been enforced was when HRT consistently ran two cars that were abysmally slow all weekend. If you can demonstrate that the car can get within 107%, the stewards will generally let you start.
