Oh hey, people are still complaing about the GT's engine being an Ecoboost V6. How god damm original.
On a different (and better) note, it is curious that Ganassi isn't mentioned anywhere on that article, especially knowing their work with Ford's Daytona Protoype program. Is Ford really going at it by themselves? Also, with so many ex-Lola personnel, this GTLM will defintely hark back to the old days of the GT40...

Hmm, that'd be sick if it was just a Ford/Multimatic effort. I still have a suspicion Ganassi will get a pair of these cars. (Maybe Ganassi will be in Tudor, and Ford/Multimatic in WEC? With Ganassi still being able to go to Le Mans possibly.)

The Ganassi empire has far to many bow ties throughout for Ford, Though if Ganassi ran the NASCAR program under Ford it may be a different story, now to prey and hope this Ford GT is GTE only and Ford go Mustang GT3

I know, and I'll try my best to do so. But still, why are people so reluctant to admit that the GT has changed, and it'll be unlikely that it'll come back to being a V8? I know that the V8 engine has a significant cultural meaning in North America, but for crying out loud, that's not being resistant to change, that's being downright thick. Racing regulations, marketing, emission laws... There are many reasons why the GT had to change. But by Jive, I'm sure that I'll still hear these people bash the car all the way, all because the engine is lacking two cylinders to them...
Well, I can't wait to see how will Ford's latest GTLM look like, this should be interesting.

I think the closest we will see Ganassi to one of those cars is a Ford GT kit for the Dp like the Corvette, and continue development of the power plant,

I still don't think Ganassi will be apart of this which is why I'm not surprised, but he may be in the end so we'll see.
Maybe he will be a customer team and Multimatic/Ford will run as a factory team like P&M/Corvette Racing.

Perhaps you forgot Chip isn't a one trick pony. And BoP will come to TUDOR at some point or the series will die off like it did when it was ALMS and Penske had is run that basically had the series make a shift in rules that just changed it forever.
Back to Chip though...he has NASCAR and Indy still and isn't slow in those though he could always improve on his NASCAR efforts.

I still don't get why everyone is/was so convinced that Chip would be running the program. IndyCar has always been his main focus with his other programs getting seemingly just enough attention to keep them afloat. It's worked for the sports car program up to now but the NASCAR side hasn't had much success save for a few years. Plus there is the obvious conflict of interest of having a person that has 2 Chevrolet programs running the Ford factory GT program.
Ultimately, I think Ford would be better off going with a team that can give the effort 100% of the attention.

With them being the only Ford backed team, it was pretty much the only thing to assume, even though it is kinda strange to see a team running a make that they are racing against in there other program. Hell, I'm still wondering why didn't they just complete the trifecta and go Chevy.

Penske runs Chevy in indycars and Ford in NASCAR. If I remember correctly he even owns the company that builds the Chevy Indy engines.
My guess is that Ganassi went with Ford because of the money he's getting from them and that he didn't need to buy new bodywork for his cars. I wouldn't be surprised if he's not going to run the new GTs, I think he wants to compete for overall wins and he will stay with what he's running now until the new regulations in 2017.

Thing is unlike Penske, his Ford Riley is directly competing against Chevy Corvette DPs while in NASCAR, his Chevys are competing directly against the Ford Fusions. I don't really count indycar since Chevy is the ONLY American manufacturer interested in doing it and keeping with it, therefore there's no direct competition with the other two.

The problem still stands though, since Chevy are serious about their Indy efforts. Why are you competing against us in one arm, but with us in another is what could be asked at Penske. And his Ford affiliation seems even stronger when he goes and joins with DJR who have been a major Ford player in V8s for a while. I'm quite sure Chip doesn't get Factory money or all that much for his NASCAR efforts hence past/present alliance with major backed factory groups like RCR or HMS. And his recent joining with Ford in DPs as part of their major factory effort is why many feel he's the one, but if someone else with more experience was asked I wouldn't be surprised.
