Who knew this was all that is needed to add downforce

More tape is needed it seems. Testing times were in the 1:59's which puts it 3-4 sec behind the LMP2 cars but that would be good enough for row 3 in the Daytona Prototypes so bring on the Nissan DP.;) http://www.racer.com/wec-le-mans/item/119781-wec-nissan-makes-progress-at-cota-test

Well, when you are still running a rather unefficient and slow engine/drivetrain combo (the Jalopnik article states that the GT-R's drivetrain was unchanged at the time of the tests), you shouldn't really expect major improvements in the speed departement. Not making any excuses up for Nissan (I have a neutral stance regarding their LMP1), just pointing that one out.

So far it's been a data test. It's a private test. They aren't going to blitz the timesheets. They are 5 seconds off the P1-L times, so they are clearly making progress with the car.

Maybe but keep in mind that COTA is less then half the length of Le Mans so 5s at COTA could be around 10/11 there, still a mighty gap to close. But a month until the next event so they still have some time to eat into that.

I think though that what should be kept in mind is that next year is where we will really see the improvement. I think they could at least be halfway decent next year.

When the car actually works, it'll be just fine. Unfortunately it'll never be competitive in this current trim.

The temps at COTA were triple digits. That would kill a lot of performance from tires. Probably worth a couple seconds from that alone.

Yes British and male.
Sounds like Jonny Adam to me (If the Scottish are still British).

I just read that the GT-R LM Nismo won't be at the Nurburgring round, I hope we haven't seen the last of that car because it will be interesting to see it's potential when it's running with hybrid power to the rear wheels, until then it's best to stay out of the limelight.

It's better to let them do what they need to do privately. They've done a 24 hour run through, they can't do anything about their lack of pace for now, so there's no real point in turning up.

In other news, I tried to explain the current LMP1 field on Oppo using Cow Economics:

So when will we expect to see the car back out and racing?

We’ll come back when we are ready to show the performance of the car as it was intended to be shown. The focus today is on testing and development and when we are ready we’ll come back to the WEC.

If the absence from the WEC stretches towards, or right to, the end of 2015 will we get to the stage where you are concerned about corporate commitment?

No, the release is clear about commitment and increased effort, in particular on the engineering side getting this right and the Corporation will follow. That’s the sensible track to take and the correct order of priorities

See ya at Silverstone 2016-if you can prove to the suits in Japan the project works.

I actually heard last night there's a rumour of mucke being dropped although I find it heard to believe as the 97 car is the only one the doesn't seem to have a consistent line up of 3 drivers.

What makes you think it's Jonny?

Also just to add to the Nissan part they need to be very careful as the aoc have banned teams in the past who put an entry for the wec to get a spot at Le Mans and then only turn up at Le Mans and not the others
