I've said this before and I'll say it again, but I honestly think Bayne's Roush's worst driver right now. Not to say Stenhouse isn't an equally bad dose of awful, but at least he has two Nationwide titles and a couple of wins there compared to Bayne's 2. Don't get why Advocare decided to leave Dillion in 2011(?) for a significantly worse driver (Bayne's 29th in points and Dillon is 21st).

Outside of Biffle being horribly OP in NASCAR Manager, Biffle just needs some solid equipment and not the trash Roush has been giving him. Reed hasn't done anything else particularly impressive outside of that Daytona win, Buesher, while he has determination, gives no 🤬 running over his own teammate to get to it. Sadler is on his way out I believe, so Wallace seems like a good enough choice to move up to cup if his sponsorship situation wasn't trash.

Bayne seems to have gotten worse the longer he's stayed with Roush (which is never a good sign). I feel like he's in the same position as Edwards and Kenseth were in that he's given bottom run stuff while their golden Boy (Stenhouse) is given higher priority and as a result, he's never been given a proper chance to improve. I don't see how Bayne is somehow worse then Stenhouse, he's got two championships but still a rolling danger zone. I don't think two championships mean much if you haven't stopped putting your own car or someone elses into the wall on a regular basis.
 
Kind of like Joey Logano at Joe Gibbs, in a way. He was at the point where he could have easily been dropped by JGR and left out of Cup, but Penske took a chance on him and his career was saved. Can't say the same would happen for Bayne, but sometimes being in a particular team doesn't always fit the driver too well.

Well remember how huge of a difference a switch made for both Kenseth and Edwards. Hell, look at what Harvick did last year after leaving RCR. If Those guys (who are from the young guns they once were) managed to have a massive turn around to their careers, their could be a chance for Bayne. Just would be a case of the right circumstance, which might lie with Furniture row if they are still serious about having a multi-car team.
 
It's unfortunate how small the windows are at the moment for a good ride.
 
Unfortunately so. The way it is now, Someone has to lose a ride in order for someone else to have it.
 
Sorry not to stay with active discussions, but I kind of been thinking about how the Chase for the Cup is structured. I have to say that I somewhat like how the format is. I like the idea of these three individual set of races that lead up to the championship round while eliminating various low-placed drivers. The racing purist in me still prefers the Chase be done away with entirely, but I do like what NASCAR has done with the Chase format here.

So we go from the Boring... uh, Magic Mile to the Monster Mile. Dover surely brings insanity no matter what racing machines are riding around the oval. The championship hopes will fade for four drivers after this weekend and have to settle for next season. Have to wonder which 12 will survive and enter the 2nd Round of the Chase.
 
Just want to say quickly... I've disliked Tony Stewart a lot in the past. But over the years, I grew to appreciate and respect "Smoke." So it will be sad to see Tony Stewart hang it up next season. I am not certain he'll be a Hall of Famer of anything, but he's had a great career and was never afraid to speak his mind. It will be tough to see him retire next year.

What more can I say? This is a new generation of NASCAR. Many of the past names and such are giving way to a new generation. Evolution of the sport.
 
While I can't exactly say this wasn't coming, I just hate the way its came about. Deep down, many of us know the Tony Stewart we knew prior to 2014 isn't there anymore.

Seriously? Tony will go into the NASCAR Hall of Fame on the first ballot, guaranteed. Considering his brief but successful open wheel driving career, and how much he will mean to motorsports with his various ownership ventures, he might end up in several other motorsport-related Halls of Fame later in his life.
 
I didn't see the press conference, but I did read about it. Retirement has been on his mind for a while now, and 2015 was supposed to his final year with him exiting quietly.

Instead he saw how Gordon's farewell tour has been important to the fans, so he postponed it. He will still be managing at SHR, so he will likely still be at the track and in the garage.

Retirement is also on his terms. The leg, nor the Kevin Ward incident had nothing to do with it.

He has won in virtually every form of racing he has competed in, and has won championships in pretty much every series in which he competed full time. Pretty sure he will be in a couple HOF's.
 
So im taking it that there is a possibility that the race will be moved to Monday or Tuesday of next week, due to the hurricane.

They cannot do that. They would of waited until Wednesday at most, then try again Tuesday next week.
If they couldn't get that they'd probably cancel it

Imagine Dover becoming the 10th, and thus, championship race. Jimmie Johnson wins again, and everyone complains.
 
Imagine how angry people would be if the champion finishes 40th because the other three contenders finish 41st, 42nd, and 43rd.

They ran Thanksgiving weekend at New Hampshire in 2001 because of September 11th.

Agree with both you on your points about Stewart. To add, he's only 44...I've got no idea what he intends to do after NASCAR, but if he had the desire, I'm sure he could have a nice little ten year career as a sports car driver...and as has been said, he's won at basically everything else he's done.

Edit: just had the thought...imagine a Stewart/Gordon/"Ringer" team at Le Mans :lol:
 
The championship that already means next to nothing with the chase format would mean even less if one of those races can't be run at all.
 
They'll find a way to run it. Keep in mind that the second race at New Hampshire - a race track in New England of all places - was run in late November in 2001 after being pushed back because of 9/11. Freezing cold. Dover, despite being closer to the coast and hence possibly colder, can be run.

Though as mentioned before, people will definitely be wary considering Dover is JJ's playground, and if he ends up winning this race and the championship there will certainly be more outrage among haters than ever.
 
Seems like everyone believed that Larson and Dillon would get their 1st win this season.

Does anyone still believe in that? :lol:
 
Eight races left. That's only less than a quarter of the season to go. It's possible but the likeliness of that happening with the Chase is astronomically low.
