Are the laps that Marussia completed above the 107% rule? :scared: Let's hope that they are faster in qualifying.

Stevens 1'46.686 is within 107% of Rosberg 1'40.124 if my early morning math is correct.

But is Nico's FP1 best lap in anyway representative of upcoming quali times? And how much more performance can Manor found till saturday?

I Wonder if Hamilton will have to go to his 2nd engine after what happened in FP1.

It'll be interesting to see if Manor is faster than McLaren, that'd be hilarious.

Highly doubt it, Mclarens speed trap times are actually Higher then all the Renault unit cars in FP1.

They seem to sort their reliability as well, as they have banked a decent amount of laps in FP1 already.

If by any chance Manor can secure a deal on 2015 engines, that could end up being a reality. With their current package, I suspect only reliability issues would make such an outcome possible.

No, Mercedes aren't powered by engines. They're powered by the number of Twitter followers they have, and the more Twitter followers each driver gets, the faster they go. When Hamilton's Twitter account was accidentally taken offline, his car stopped on the circuit.

Good to see fernando again back on track:)

Wasn't it Mercedes who faulted his chassis's designs whilst at Mclaren for the unreliability that plagued Hakkinen from 99 til Raikonnen in 2005?

Well most manufactures have at some point, called issue with his design and integration of the power source in said design. Since Newey tries to do the minimalist thing with his car and make them tight packaged for better coke bottle effect aero. This leads to plenty of break downs in his cars over the years. But once that part of the system is figured out with his design, it usually means the most successful car as well.

current weather forecast for start of Qualifying: 55% chance of rain

Oh man will miss Quali :( so that's a 100% chance of rain.

How about real chances people? :P Has anyone read latest forecasts about quali/race?

So they should be forced to spend millions of dollars just because?

And FOX have taken Abiteboul's comments out of context for the sake of a headline. He said that they are considering their position and that leaving is an option if it doesn't make commercial sense - but he also said that they are considering buying a team outright or remaining as a supplier, and that the decision will be made based on what the company feels is best for it.

A lightning storm over (or at least very close to) the circuit. Alonso and Button will be hoping for a direct strike to give them a good ERS top-up.

EDIT: And there are no on-screen graphics due to "technical problems with the local broadcaster".

Finally graphics are back.

Drivers being told that lap 1, Q2 will be the one that counts. Rain is imminent.

EDIT: Hamilton overtakes two cars into turn 1, impressive stuff in Quali.

EDIT EDIT: It's siling, and the Iceman is out.

They're gonna need some speedos & a snorkel to get that pole position I reckon.

Something very strange happening on the timing screens... Cheung is in (extra) tenth, it seems :D
