So does this thing have that rumored electric turbo?

Well, I don't particularly like the way it looks, but then again that's what I said about the last generation and today I like those a lot. These will grow on me. Really curious to see how the STI looks.

The hood scoop has ALWAYS been functional on the WRX and STI. As mentioned above, not sure if serious. The new recessed hood scoops look a lot better that some of the older hood scoops. (like my 2004 WRX)
However I still don't like the gold wheels AT ALL. Never have.
The more I look at the hood scoops the more ridiculous they look. Same goes for the spoiler. And the gold wheels. Hell, the whole car is ridiculous, but that's why I love them.

I think for some, its still an impreza so there not imprezzed. Its a new model filling a gap they made with the latest Impreza

I'm not sure what the fuss is about. When the new impreza came out, I really liked it. However, I thought "this would be better as a WRX." And now it is. I think the only problem is that they're a year or two off with their timing. This thing would've sold like hotcakes if it debuted with the BRZ.

I would still shop for one of these if it came in a hatchback/wagon.

I can't wait to drive it. The only thing I'm not particularly keen on is the (lack of) iconic Impreza-tossbag-rumble, because the FA20 has even rather than uneven headers.

Still, small price to pay when it comes to all the enhancements the new Rexy will have.

Think of it this way, it'll sound like a tame WRC car now.

I've seen a few reviews already and everyone is raving about the handling saying that it's as flat and sharp as anything in the segment. I'm going to have to drive it to know for sure but I'm definitely interested. Combined with the fact that my Sti still has a NADA value on trade that will cover the cost of a new WRX... :mischievous:
Come March to April I'll have first hand experience if not a new one sitting in the driveway. 👍

Btw, the CVT is getting good marks as well. According to one of the reviews Subaru claims it shifts more quickly than an ISF.
This is especially important to me as of lately due to my recent ankle injury. Driving a clutch is the best but when you hurt your ankle it's as more of a literal pain than any figurative pain automatics have cause me in the past. :(

Oh, and somewhere on NASIOC I read the new twin scroll unit is producing 258 ft.lbs. at 2000 rpm and reaching peak at 268 way later.

Didn't like this at first, but it's really grown on me. Dayum.

Subaru's really hitting it outta the park recently! Now, just bring back the Forester STi, and I'll be happy. :D

Very disappointed to hear that may be carrying over the EJ257 to the new generation Sti.
While I genuinely like the engine and enjoy it day to day, I'd much rather see the Sti upgrade to a more powerful version of the new 2.0 (what's the designation again? FA20?).

At any rate, I will admit that they only said it's a 2.5L, they didn't specifically say it's the same 2.5L so maybe there is some hope. 👍

There's no way the STi uses something other than the FA20.

I was told by a friend that this car was going to be ugly. What the hell was he talking about?

I'm inclinded to say the above is correct.
Not only does the leaked spec sheet list the motor as the 2.5L (no mention of DIT), it also lists the power at 305 (same as the current EJ257).
Signs are pointing towards a carry over motor for the STI for the time being.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a new motor debut with the Hatchback model two years from now. :p
Ok, maybe that's just me being hopeful but why not right!?

That's boocrap. Well, maybe that electric turbo rumor was true. But maybe they're not done developing it yet.

All I want is a hatchback WRX. Maybe it'll debut with a hatchback STi.

Subaru has already said this generation will be Sedan only. Whether they stick to that I guess we'll have to wait and see. As far as the new STi goes, I expect a car similar to the new WRX with a few new flashy body bits and a big wing to go with the bigger motor, and that's about it.

I know that, but a hatch would be great. People don't buy a freaking subaru for sports car handling. They want utility. What they ought to do is just axe the impreza. Or just make it super stripper cheap. The WRX should be their bread and butter.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the WRX and STi based on the Impreza platform?

Lack on UEL headers? AEM companies will be making UEL headers as soon as this car is released, they did so with the BRZ.

'15 WRX STI- This is it .....
