Juniors and Clios putting on stunning races. I'm in a very bright Power Maxed shirt, if anyone is looking to spot me.

Because they paid more for the tennis and the tennis has more viewers?

No the football is on ITV1 where they usually put the tennis final so they put it on ITV4 instead where most of the tournament has been on

And also because they paid more money for the tennis than they did for the btcc and that the tennis has higher ratings.

They complained after last year that the the full international circuit at Oulton didn't produce as good on track action as the Island layout - but I'd say after that this race that isn't the case. Not on the evidence from this first race as seen on TV.
I want the full International layout back.

Plato is still in the lead after 7 laps, he's driving the wheels off that VW!
It seems like Plato is always driving the wheels off the cars - the Laguna, the Lacetti, the Cruze, the MG and now the VW ;)

And, extremely frequently, the Civic, the 1-Series and anyone else that's in front of him at any time.

Well credit to Plato, he's a very hard racer! Although some have taken a dislike to him, you must admire him for his race craft and pure pace!

Collard and Andy make contact, there's going to be huge discussions in the WSR Garage! And Plato takes the win!

0.093s
huge gap to second place

BY 93 thousandths of a second and with 75kg on board.

(Ssssshhhh I like Plato)

None of which matters given how dirty he is - he's part of the reason BTCC is shown on ITV4 and has to make way for tennis. He - and others like him (including, but not limited to, Matt Neal and Yvan Muller) - turned the spectacle of racing into the anticipation of a crash. He's like Pastor Maldonado, only with some actual talent - albeit too scared to push himself to be a little fish in a big pond.

Still, 0.093s at the finish there

Plato translates as 'wide' in ancient Greek
Collard must translates to "misfortune magnet"

For a while I thought he had a fancy double barrelled name, Rob Collard-Izout

I watched some clips of the late nineties Super Touring stuff the other day. It's almost if Plato has become the bully after getting battered about by the big names in his earlier days, as this clip (one of many) shows:

Um.. Language warning? I think everything has been bleeped out..

It was exciting racing in the day, but looking back over Super Touring stuff now is like watching 1960s football. All the time you're thinking "how the hell did you get away with that?"

Lol that wasn't very nice.

You're not wrong - I've always maintained that the first real embodiment of this crash-to-pass culture in BTCC was Yvan Muller.

There were some controversial incidents well before that - but that's just it, they were controversial. Muller normalised it - and Plato is simply a continuation of that.

In any higher series he'd lose his race licence and get lamped - the order of those things may vary - and that may explain why he's sticking to BTCC.

Ryk

I was going to say when someone earlier in the thread said they bumped into Collard in the gift shop, it was probably the other way about but Collard blames it on them...

Morgan pole for race 3 so @Furinkazen is happy.

You get on well at knickerbrook? Heard there was a few incidents up there.

Pretty good... There was one right in front of me, then headed down to the chicane where the clios where smashing up the track, then all the way up to the last corner. At T1 now...for a quick exit after race 3

Round 12 is go!
Adam Morgan get's a Drive Through Penalty!

Morgan lost 23 places for 4 inches...

sounds reasonable.

Bet he is driving like Jim Clark now. All Angry.

Touring cars, along with everything else (apart from hair and mobile phones) was better in the '80s.

There was respect back then, and the only push to pass was under Rouse's right foot.

Super touring > group A

All day everyday.

Group A > banger racing > "super" touring.

Motor racing is not a contact sport. See Matt Neal trying to pit Andy Jordan just now.

Tordoff takes 1st, Jordan in 2nd, Neal in 3rd.

We all know what Jason means... Getting a large beer when he get's home!:p:cheers:

They only put the tennis on because of the purse involved, otherwise both sports involve,
Balls,
Light petting,
Solid contact,
Rallying,
Groaning,
And moaning over poor line calls,

@Furinkazen managed to walk straight past me 3 times without recognising me. I am disappoint.
