I think we all know who was the "greatest" comentator in espn's nascar coverage:

When that man left and was replaced with Alan Bestwick, nascar on ESPN actually became tolerable to the point that I would take it any day over FOX. Even their camera operators slightly improved.

Lets not forget that they had one of their pit reporters comentate once:

The amount of Justin Bei- I mean Allgaier intensified way too often.

Why is the Indy race starting that late? And why, aside from Martinsville, Pocono and New Hampshire, are all the races pushed back roughly an hour when they switch to NBC/NBCSN?
1. Probably has to do with Olympic coverage
2. Football and this has been like that for a while now.

I appreciate the ironman Nascar stories and have heard of Ricky Rudd's ones
for example numerous times where he drove with his eyes duct taped open
and other crazy things, but these Jeff Gordon efforts was unknown to me until
very recently..

Earlier last week The Race Hub did a segment on Jeff's Iron Man career. He told stories where he could've easily gotten out of the car but didn't and those could've ended his streak.

A couple of stories he said at Watkins Glen years ago his right hand was bleeding through his glove and onto the shifter because the skin was gone in the palm of his right hand due to shifting gears all day. He stayed in the race, kept bleeding and won the race.

Another race was at Darlington in the Southern 500. He had the flu so bad he was throwing up in the car, had a 103 degree fever and couldn't speak. The only way he and Evernham could communicate was morse code. Jeff would click the radio 1 time for yes and 2 times for no. By the way, he won that race too.

Dear god, what the hell was that Shifter made of? Just sheer balls from Gordon.

Rudd was a machine. Those guys had balls of steel back then.

As for Gordon, I didn't know the story about Darlington. Which race was it exactly? If I recall correctly, I believe he won 4 straight Southern 500's '95-'98. He won the No Bull 5 Million Dollars in '97 and '98. I'm pretty sure he was healthy and in good spirits after those.

But hey, at least he didn't crap his pants like Tony at Watkins Glen...

It is neat to see Richmond having a day race again. If circuits have two races a year and lights, I like seeing them run one during the day and the other prime time. I would like to see Charlotte go back to that, but I'm sure Bruton or Humpy or whoever would never allow it. Any why doesn't Phoenix have a night race anymore?

Lots of why's from me.

To answer the Indy one, it actually was pushed back supposedly so the fans could attend church and the weather would be cooler later in the day.

Personally, I think that NBC should air the race like it did in the past.

I have no idea why the races are pushed back, but I don't understand why NBC can't air at least the last 7 races instead of the split with NBCSN, or the Richmond race right after the Notre Dame game (makes a good lead-in)

And I guess the standard start times went out the window because ratings.

And on a side note, the Xfinity finale is on NBCSN due to the Notre Dame game. I would put the race on at high noon on NBC, then the game would follow.

Well Justin Allgaier isn't there so it won't be THAT bad.
