There's an Overtime line, where if passed will be considered far enough to end the race

I'm reading this rule change as the fallout from the Talladega fiasco.

Bring on the demolition derby. :boggled:

Basically, it's GWCs like now, but you only have to make it half a lap for it to be Enough where a caution ends it. Also, there's no limit on attempts

If they want the race to end under green so badly why not just make caution laps not count for the final 20 laps or so?

Wait, that would never work as it's not a gimmick.

I have an idea, why not just end the race at the designated lap it was suppose to end. And you know what else, if it ends in a caution so be it, if it ends going green so be it, if it ends under the pace car so be it. If you punished people more for pulling off stupid moves at the end of the race that were never going to work (looking at you Harvick), you wouldn't come up with half assed crazy ideas.

You must remember, this is Brian France you're talking about, this sort of logic is too much for him.

So who gets the ball first in overtime? Do they flip a coin? Is there double overtime?
If it just turns into rocket league, I'll just fire up the PS4 instead of watching NASCAR. Rocket League is infinitely more fun playing than watching.

This is why I haven't watched Nascar since The Chase, it throws the actual sport out the window for short term excitement but now the actual best driver through the season never wins anymore. Just whoever can be consistent then win at Homestead.

Just put NASCAR liveries on the rocket cars. Done.

My comment should be read in a satirical tone, with the knowledge that what I say is what any rational racing organization would do, but since this is NASCAR it wont be anything remotely close to rational. That was the point anyways, as you know I already agree with you.

Nah the best drivers get wreck out of the chase most times by decent or good drivers (like or hate him Joey is fast) and sometimes equally the fastest driver of the year. Consistency should win you a championship with a win or more, but being in the top 30 with a win when chase time comes around, and then having a "miracle" fall into your lap...that shouldn't happen.

I agree with the first half, but being consistent and winning at homestead or finishing higher in running than your closest competitor sounds more like oringal Cup standings to me.
