Do any of you guys on here have like an GTPlanet ESPN or Yahoo Fantasy NASCAR League? Think that would be cool to be a part of

If I recall, the closest thing here was a fantasy league-type thread somewhere.

I mean just an idea, but why don't we create a league for ESPN or Yahoo Nascar? We can even create a new thread if we should or just have it here and get sign ups. Thoughts?

I've never liked having to register for another site for Fantasy, I liked the way it was a while back where there was a Google form and all you had to do was put in your username and pick your drivers. Too much work for me to do, but if someone else did that I'd be all over it

We've had one the past several years. Before the picks and results were kept track of on a specific fantasy league thread. Last year we migrated to Yahoo. Unfortunately as the season wore on, fewer and fewer people were paying attention. I think there were about 5 of us still setting our lineups by the end of the season.

Anyway, I don't know how much interest there is running a league this year. Brian France has done and 🤬 around with a bunch of things, and many people have vowed to stop watching. Daytona is still a couple weeks away, so we have a little bit of time to see if there is any interest here.

Edit: Looks like I got tree'd by multiple people.

Sounds simple enough to me I've done Google forums and links ect many times especially when running Leagues I think I'll start on organizing a Fantasy Nascar League with Information here on GTPlanet.

Points suggestion?

Yeah I hear what you mean that happens a lot with Yahoo and ESPN leagues in any fantasy format. Better to keep it on GTPlanet

How it was back on Google was that each week you picked 3 drivers (Can't in consecutive weeks), you got all their points. If you pick the winner, you get a CP which allows you to pick a driver again the next week. Come chase time, you were required to pick one non-chase driver each race. At the end, you could cash in unused CP's for points.

I'm trying to remember the format from the past. I want to say we each picked 4? drivers and couldn't pick the same drivers 2 weeks in a row unless we had a CP (consecutive pick). Those were attained with having the highest score of the bunch any given week or if one of your drivers won the race.

Edit: Dammit, tree'd again. :mad::lol:

Alright here's a breif statement right now. I will create a new thread tonight when I get it all sorted out just need some time to figure out rules, drivers and so on.

So I think a person may choose 4 drivers per race.

Scoring would be 1st - 46 points 2nd - 42 points 3rd - 41 points 4th - 40 points and so on.

10 point bonus for choosing correct manufacture to win race

30 point Bonus for having winning Driver

Place Differintal Bonus : for example lets say Tony Stewart Starts 26th finishes 20th you get 6 points because he gained 6 spots or lets say Carl Edwards starts 10th finishes 20th you get NEGATIVE -10 points

Lap Led Bonus: Let's say 1 of your driver led the race for 10 laps it would be divided by 2 and you would get 5 Points

Just a rough outline. The thread will be up soon and will look much nicer.

That is way too complicated of a scoring system IMO, plus it overvalues starting position and laps led

Alright okay again bare with me with starting this thing up. Just thought it be fun for all of us and I'm sure we can adjust some of the scoring along the way and figure out what is best

That fantasy system is more convoluted than NASCAR's own system.

I never thought I'd see the day...
I'm working on it right now and I think if I just keep it as simple as possible with just the where your drivers finished in what position and the bonus of having the Winning Driver (15 points) and that's it. Then that would be better.

What do you guys think about that for a scoring setup?

Why not just give whatever NASCAR gives them for the weekend as points, plus maybe a bonus for picking the pole sitter prior to qualifying provided you not change your picks.

Good Idea I like it! Okay I've really read over that link you shared with me which I loved his format he had. Seemed very complicated however so I kind of in a way made it much more simpliar but again I think I'll post the Thread soon tonight and continue to work on it and get a few signups hopefully before the green flag drops and continue to revise the league to make sure it's good

So something came up to my mind, if NASCAR 16' would allow the player to use and customize the dashboard, what buttons would it use to swich the display during the race? ( Im hoping ETX has a feature like this cause it would be actually cool )

New best joke of the thread, hoping for something from Eutechnyx

Well from what I've heard some of the guys that worked on papyrus are part of the NASCAR 16' development team so let's see if that could help them out a bit since we all know how NASCAR 15' ended up.... and also 14' :yuck:

This is why I didn't bother starting one this season. Interest always fades as the year goes on, no matter where you host it.

Personally, if you're going to do it, do it somewhere where all of the work and scoring is done for you.

Hell, I'll throw up a quick Yahoo link, just in case you guys feel so inclined to play again this year.

It runs itself, so we can all just pick each week, or set the same picks for 9 weeks at a time (the @Niop method).

Sorry, not sufficiently interested anymore... the new rules now affecting lower divisions, along with the events of last year's Cha$e, sealed the deal for me.

Modern era in racing sucks.
Fantasy sports aren't about anything else than beating your friends and talking trash.
You can still do that, right? :mischievous:

All of these great looking cars on track are seriously gonna make me end up wasting tons of money on their 1:64 diecast versions
