3:45 ET: IndyCar says practice will resume from 4:15-5 p.m.

3:30 ET: Hinchcliffe is in surgery, and the items in need of repair have varied based on the source. A thigh injury has been reported, and a possible pelvis injury has also been mentioned.

RACER has confirmed the source of Hinchcliffe's crash was a failure of the right-front suspension rocker arm, which split, and not the pushrod itself. The rocker arm connects the suspension pushrod to the damper.

3:15 ET UPDATE: At the moment, it's believed Dallara is inspecting every IndyCar team's suspension and that's why practice is on hold.

I am really worried that there will be a fatality at the race at this rate.... I better be wrong. These crashes typically only happen once a race but 5 tremendous accidents (if you include Pipa Mann's) before the race even happens is frightening.

The first 500 I went to was around 72 and I have been to dozens since, I'm not sure I have seen anything like this before. If I was a driver I would have some serious questions needing serious answers before I would get into the car again the way this is shaping up.

You might have noticed that they aren't all crashing at once...so no, there aren't going to be only 4 finishers.
Partial exaggeration. What's going to happen when someone spins in front of the field?

Actually they are both wrong since the issue has been dealt with and the cars are on the track right now and nobody has flown into orbit or exploded in a fireball in the last 10 minutes.

No I mean as in "pray", you can't do much at 225mph other than make a decision and think "oh jeez I hope this works"

So Hinch looks to be out of Indy unless he recovers like a demigod. Who would be available to step in.

Legge most likely.
Legge is there and has driven for the team before. Meira maybe. Any Indy Lights drivers?

A last minute double isn't happening. It would likely be a driver already there at the track.
I know, I was just being sarcastic.

It'll surely be interesting to see who fills in.

If your looking for good i would also say Ryan Briscoe. Buddy has guts after they took so much wing out of that car yesterday

Guts doesn't matter. So Briscoe, Legge, and a pot of other combinations that could come into play.
