If the circuit in Toowoomba comes to fruition, then they'd at least have the bragging point of hosting a race in Will Power's hometown.

I don't know - the deal to get the circuit funded was an odd one to say the least. There was some kind of agreement in principle between the organisers and the Newman government. And given the way Newman was running things, I wouldn't blame Palaczczuk if she has misgivings about any kind of deal. Queensland is the only unicameral state in the country - the senate voted themselves out of existence in the 1920s - and the system has been wide open to all manner of shadiness ever since. Newman wasn't the first; Bjelke-Pietersen wasn't the first. But I doubt he'll be the last, either. I can't see Palaczczuk agreeing to anything unless she can get out of the Surfers' V8 contract.

Nelson Piquet Jr, subbing for Max Chilton, has taken pole for his debut Indy Lights race. Considering he's most likely overqualified based on racing experience to be in the series, him taking pole isn't that surprising.

Well considering this past year he has done very little open wheel racing especially compared to Chilton and the fact he was in a unfamiliar car I wouldn't of expected pole.

He is showing himself to be one of the best drivers outside of F1 this past year.

Keep in mind the standard of drivers in Formula E and the fact he is in reach of clinching the championship despite no real Open Wheel Driving since 2009 says wonders.

He deserves a Factory LMP contract or Top Indycar seat for 2016 for sure imo.

RC Enerson Indy Lights incident today. Could have been bad...

Maybe they should add the rear pods on these cars as well.

Can Indy Car go to Bathurst?
No. Everything from Griffin's to the Elbow would be unsuitable. But there are plans to build a second, shorter circuit that will go up Mountain Straight, cut across the back of the paddock, then up Conrod in reverse before turning around and weaving back down to the Chase. If and when it goes ahead - and the Bathurst regional council recently purchased some seventy or eighty hectares adjacent to Conrod to build it - then IndyCar could possibly race there. They definitely want more international events; they flagged MotoGP as a possible event.

So similar to Jeff Krosnoff's fatal accident that literally happened at the same place (this time on the other side), but with the much stronger debris fences and stronger, safer cars, we did not witness a driver and marshall fatality like we did in 1996.

If it were up to me and if I were trying to bring IndyCar back to Houston, I'd have the series race around Motorsport Ranch Houston down in Angleton, TX. The New Orleans course is a motorsports park, so why not another? I do like the course around Reliant Park, so I'm not going to hate on it all that much. I am very much in agreement with racing around Surfers Paradise. On the same end, I maybe wouldn't mind seeing Motegi (oval, road course, or both) return. You could have an illegitimate World Championship if you have a European or African venue to go with any rounds in the Asia-Pacific in addition to the Pan-American courses. So I was thinking maybe IndyCar around... Rockingham (as in England's Rockingham), Donnington Park, Brands Hatch, or a venue that Champ Car once raced- Zolder. More European options? Here are some ideas: Mantorp Park, Zandvoort, Mugello, Misano, or maybe even Monza?

But again... Toronto is the only non-American round of the 2015 championship for a series that famously took on various other venues outside of America and Canada. It's sad, really. I actually consider Surfers Paradise a staple of Indy/Champ Car racing. About as much of a staple as the series racing at tracks like Mid-Ohio or Burke Lakefront Airport in Cleveland. Toronto is a staple of the series in its own right. Hoping this weekend's race will be as classic as any other on the streets of Toronto...
In south africa there's the Phakhisa Freeway, a big road course/oval combo track, like Motegi. MotoGP used to race there. A race in Asia: maybe back to motegi or even another track (Autopolis anybody)

Just give em bigger wheels and tell them to raise the ride height, :D

Its not suitable enough from a safety stand point to run high powered lightweights around there,

Yes, I am very familiar with Phakisa, gt3kid89. I am familiar with it having played MotoGP 4 on the PS2. If not Phakisa, a more viable option in South Africa would be good old Kyalami of course- home of the old F1 South African Grand Prix. IndyCar has its options. Just that will they actually come up with a viable and complete international collection of venues like in the older times of Indy/Champ car racing?

By the way, I would suggest Eurospeedway Lausitz, but I will always get the sad reminder of Alex Zanardi's (who is one of my personal favorite racers ever) crash in 2001 losing both of his legs.

Yes... as of this post, the Honda Indy Toronto is at the top of the hour. So good luck to all drivers and teams in taking on the only non-American race of the 2015 IndyCar season.
