I never realized I made the 5000th post to this thread! Yay, me! :D Boy, do I feel dumb for mentioning Toronto was going to be dry. Weather does indeed change. Congratulations to Mr. Josef N. on the win at Toronto.

Up next- how fast do you like it? California/Auto Club Speedway is next. SoCal speed. Bring on California on June 27!

Road America is a meh place.

I love the history of the place and CART had a storied run of races there up until the early 2000's, but what time of the year can you schedule an Indycar race there with the moronic "Season ends on Labor Day Weekend" mandate? You've got NASCAR in early August, the SCCA Run-Offs and the Councours De Elegance in July, The Hawk Challenge in June... And any earlier than May is just not going to happen from a weather standpoint, especially when the series doesn't even have an "Intermediate"-style wet-weather tire available for teams to use.

It's probably going to be the last year for Indycar at Auto Club Speedway as well, if my sources and rumors I've read are correct. Quite a shame I can't get down there to watch it either, but the again who in their right mind would schedule a race, in June, in Southern California, on a Saturday to start at 1 PM? Indycar, that's who.

I would love to see a Indy/PWC bill at Road America, it would certainly tempt me to make two trips there next year (provided I don't have a terrible experience when I go in August).

Cristiano da Matta. Man... Haven't heard/seen that name in quite a while. What's he up to these days?

As much as I love the oval at Fontana, I always will remember the (then) CART race there in 1999 when Juan Pablo Montoya won the championship, but it was also the day we lost a great up-and-coming racer named Greg Moore. Sometimes, I still wonder how much further the Canadian have gone in racing had it not been for his fatality. On a lighter note, Fontana is a great high-speed oval. The fact it's two miles long means you're able to keep up your speed almost all the way around without having to lift too much. I don't consider Fontana as a "cookie-cutter" oval.

Other stuff... I don't think Road America is a "meh" track at all. In fact, I thought of Road America being a Grand Prix style race track for Formula 1- even if it isn't pretty enough or modern enough to host such a racing event. Of course, throw some money at Road America, and you can transform the heck out of it however you like. The only "meh" sort of track to me is... Watkins Glen. I like the course, but it isn't real interesting to me. I kind of think of Watkins Glen the same way I tend to think of Imola- good track, nothing wrong with it, but don't like it too much.

I was going to recommend another course for IndyCar to race, and I was going to mention Miller Motorsports Park. However, I've learned that since the course hasn't renewed its lease with Tooele County in Utah, this track will probably go defunct. Sad.

He last raced in 2011 in the ALMS. He's either retired now or doing something that isn't reported on. I think he might have done a stint in Brazilian Stock Cars at some point since 2011 but I'm not completely sure of that.

Pimp the race to Indycar then take the state money and spend it all on upgrades for the track, that seems about right for New Orleans.

Sometimes what you see isn't what had to happen. I have been involved in preparing a parking area on a local hill. Simple? Easy? Nope..... We had to dig a hole big enough for a car or two and fill it with gravel so we could have a stable surface.....

I have a feeling that the costs were real.....

Bit weird that Rocky Moran is missing from that, considering he almost got to do one race earlier on.
