The time is coming, and I still haven't decided if I want to pull the trigger on Sonoma tickets... I could easily make the trip there and back to my hometown in a day, but having been there for an SCCA event, it didn't look spectator-friendly like Mazda Raceway was...
I've been to 3 of the last 5 IndyCar races at Sonoma, and I plan to go this year. It's very spectator friendly. And you'll get the best fan experience in all of racing if you get yourself a garage/pit pass. Your best chance of meeting the drivers will be at Saturday autograph session.

The only bad thing about Sonoma Raceway is leaving the track after the IndyCar race. You may be sitting in traffic for 2 hours.

That is quite possibly the worst congested road in California on a good day, much less after a race.

Now I'm really thinking about it, thanks 👍

What's changing next year other than Honda getting an additional turbo to make them more equal to Chevrolet?

Edit: Oh, forgot about the aerokits.

Im pretty sure the aero kits have been delayed to 2015

Does anyone have a clue what happened to Indycar 36? I actually enjoyed that but seems like it just disappeared after 2 episodes this year.

I thought it would be funny if Terry Tait, office linebacker, tackled Chip off of the pit wall

What's the point of running international events in the winter if they're considering having it part of the championship?

Plus, the fear of "having our champion crowned in some far away place at 1am" makes them sound very ignorant.

All they need to do is put the international events into the main portion of the season and just run a longer calendar of events from February to November if they need to, just to spread the events out to make international travel possible for the teams.

They should be racing at tracks like Brands Hatch, Surfers Paradise, Motegi, maybe even Imola or Jerez.

Live coverage of the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma starts tomorrow at 4:00 PM EDT on NBC Sports Network!

Honestly, it saddens me that IndyCar's management are actualy taking the hare-brained proposals that a consultancy firm "Gifted" them so seriously (Like ending the season in August with a Race at Indianapolis's Road Course, for example, as well as a championship "Play-Off" and the afformentioned "Winter Series")... That said, I do think a Winter Series will probably happen some time soon, with races at Motegi (Either Road Course or Super Speedway, though using the road course is more likely) and Mugello in Italy being the most likely canidates.

Also, I'm happy to say that I'm going to attend the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma with my Dad tomorrow.:gtpflag:

For all the American viewers, did you also just hear that odd commentary during the side-by-side view?

Yes, very interesting bonus coverage!👍

It sounded like Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen were giving us some bicycle racing commentary during the side-by-side break.

Very strange!

Too much stop and start today. :indiff:

In fairness, its Sonoma raceway. This track has a tendency of making start & stop races no matter what series races here.

Most pathetic call I've ever heard. What the hell were they thinking? The Rear Tire Changer wasn't even trying to get out of the way.

Stupidist decision of the season. I don't mind whether Dixon or Power win but that decision was just wrong.

Would have preferred seeing Power and Dixon battle it out for the win with the remaining laps instead of how it turned out.
