NASCAR wouldn't allow a support series with cars that will be easily 3-4 seconds a lap quicker (perhaps more?) around the stockcar layout at Sonoma...

It wouldn't be too hard to convert the layout over.
Isn't the infield part of the Indy Layout filled during the Nascar weekend.

Regardless do you honestly think they would change the layout in the weekend for a support bill.

I do find it fascinating how much passing is done around Adelaiade. Even Simmons Plains. Sonoma has a few spots to pass. So, I don't see a problem with either layout. The spectacle of watching the cars flow around it would be worth the visit.

The problem with running support to NASCAR is time. How long would the races be of it took place with NASCAR? There was plenty of time at F1 events because those cars are quick over a lap.

One thing about most of the U.S tracks is they have different pit lanes to Australian circuits. As most of you would know, U.S circuits have pit walls protecting the crew and don't have garages directly on the pit lane, which I reckon would restrict races from including pit stops.

Which leads me to ask: Are Sonoma and Laguna Seca FiA approved circuits?

V8's would be perfect at Long Beach and they could easily replace Imsa on the weekends schedule. It would take some shuffling of the schedule to get the teams to the U.S. in mid April though. A return to the Goldcoast for the Indycar series would be a nice link up too.

IndyCar doesn't go to Laguna Seca anymore,
Yeah but this applies to other American tracks as well, Laguna is FIA graded anyway.

Hmm, will have to see it outside in sunlight before judging it.

Love it. BJR have done a great job with their liveries this year, all three cars look great.

It's nice. Good to see that there is a little bit of a design this year. BOC will still be happy.

It's a big shame that the SuperGT calendar clashes, would be great to have Chiyo down here for the enduros.

This is when the wildcards make sense. Having GT drivers pair up like the Harvey Norman Superfriends. Every year, there should be maximum cars for Bathurst. V8SC want to put up money to sponsor a car, I'm sure they could sponsor 3 more for the grid.

The 2012 combo of Ekstrom & Priaulx in the 888 run Xbox car is a perfect example of just how good a wildcard entry can be.
If both drivers can make it into the race on qualifying speed, the more the merrier.
Anyone know how many garages in the Bathurst pitlane?

Forty, I think - weren't there thirty-seven starters for the 12 Hour?

Thanks for that 👍
In that case, if there's the capacity for 40 cars in pitlane, they should open up the 1000 to the fastest 40 Supercars provided they qualify with the required minimum speed. Is that still 107% ?

I'm pretty sure V8 Supercars doesn't have the 107% rule.

Part of the problem with your plan is sourcing the cars. There are currently 26 on the grid, so to get to 40, every team would need to build at least one extra car. There are some in the Dunlop Series, but those cars are owned by smaller teams who would be unlikely to jeopardise theur investment like that. Then there's staffing; you have to hire extra people to run the cars. And if you have 40 cars, you need 80 drivers, and where are you going to get them all?

Oh it's definitely a huge undertaking so I agree with you. It's highly unlikely there would be 40 entries but if a team could put all the ingredients together to make it happen to the required level, I'd like to see their entry accepted rather than the current way entries for the 1000 are limited.
The last thing I want to see is 40 on the grid just because it's theoretically possible.
