So is pretty much every other V8SC driver participating in that race.I got the feeling that it was a vanity thing.

Eh, I stand by what I said.I was referring more to Kelly qualifying the car when Chiyo was clearly quicker.
Qualifying at the 12hr really isn't that important, might as well just stick the driver who has the most laps around Bathurst in. Set a decent enough time, less risk of crashing (I guess...). Same thing will the Objective McLaren. Luff qualified it, but Cambell was the quickest in the car.
Anyway, it would be good to see an international wildcard or two.
Luff did a great job, for sure. I was just adding to the point of the quickest driver in the car not taking to qualifying.Luff and Campbell were both very quick, and I think, although I could be wrong, that Luff's Qualy time was quicker than Campbell's fastest time for the weekend
I used to buy Auto Action (had every issue from 1987-early 2015) & use the free motorsport calendar that came with it. I'd enter all the races in my phone I was interested in as reminders so I wouldn't accidentally plan something that conflicted with my viewing pleasure. The thing is, so many races changed dates after that calendar was printed it'd require a fair bit of shuffling. Now that I don't buy Auto Action anymore I just rely on series calendars online.Woah, Clipsal is closer than I thought! The motorsport off-season just flew by this time around.
I read that in Auto Action the other day, and I was going to bring it up here, but I thought "Surely not. They've (HRT) only had it for a year, it couldn't switch that quickly". It seems though it has. Very surprising though given I thought Courtney had some partnership with them as his own personal sponsor, I believe.http://autoaction.com.au/pra-foils-monster-hrt-deal/
Interesting. I reckon must've been a pretty last minute deal since all of the HRT merchandise had bright green all over it.
Thanks for posting the link to that story. That's one of the most enjoyable articles I've read so far this year.http://autoaction.com.au/pra-foils-monster-hrt-deal/

Same with Red Bull and Rick Kelly. I thought with Nissan, it would have been a Red Bull/Nissan(Infiniti) type sponsorship.I read that in Auto Action the other day, and I was going to bring it up here, but I thought "Surely not. When the Red Bull rumors were doing the rounds I have to admit I thought the same thing.Same with Red Bull and Rick Kelly. I thought with Nissan, it would have been a Red Bull/Nissan(Infiniti) type sponsorship.
All this green though. A few shades darker and it would be near British Racing Green.![]()
Red Bull have a policy of only backing teams that they think can win. There had been constant rumours of their involvement ever since Kelly Racing became a full operation, but if they ever considered sponsoring a car or team before joining Triple Eight, they were unconvinced.I thought with Nissan, it would have been a Red Bull/Nissan(Infiniti) type sponsorship.

I'm surprised that looks set to continue. Given that Courtney is a factory Holden driver and Monster is now sponsoring a factory Ford entry.Yeah he does and from what I can gather on the interwebs, Monster will continue on as his personal sponsor this year.

And in other news.
Another HRT sneak peak. Could the green be a number? Or Monster sponsorship?

I wouldn't be surprised either. I get the impression Ryan knows it's coming too. I can see people looking around for something else post contract. I wonder how Adrian Burgess is enjoying his new home?I wouldn't be surprised if Holden pull their factory backing from HRT, give it to Triple Eight and relegate the team to Walkinshaw Performance. There's a reason why the likes of Tekno and Dumbrell are buying Triple Eight chassis - they're superior to everything Walkinshaw is producing. We've been competing with Car of the Future for a while now and they can't seem to cure the sheer undrivability of the car. It will occasionally produce a fast lap, but nothing consistent. I seem to recall reading somewhere that they're still building the cars the way they did the pre-COTF regulations, and it just hasn't worked.
The only possible problem is that the acronym for "Triple Eight Holden Racing Team" is "TEHRT", which sounds like something that you would use to describe Whincup, as in "Whincup's being a complete TEHRT again".
