That's the way F1 is, I'm not talking about the typical one team takes all. Even if the point system was overhauled or put back to pre-2010 it'd still be Hamilton winning or Vettel before that. No point system is going to affect a driver that wins more than half the seasons races.

It is relevant to viewers, their favorite team wins needed CVC money they live another day in F1 and hopefully at some point get a shot at running closer to the front. I'm sure any fan of say Force India or even long time Williams fans can appreciate where I'm coming from on this perspective.
A revamped Point System would give some hope in the Championship, the issue with the current system is that drivers can secure the Championship before the final race with ease. If the point system was revamped, it wouldn't be so easy to secure a Championship.

I'm not sure if you heard of fans outside the hardcore spectrum. I know a lot of F1 fans who watch the races and none of this backstage stuff like CVC Money cares for them. A lot of people only care about what happens on-screen (though I would also blame the media and coverage too for not showing enough behind the scenes details to the casual viewer).

Speaking of Money, sure they are fighting for money but the positions the mid pack are fighting for is money just to stay in F1, the mid pack positions don't have enough money to allow the teams to keep with Mercedes and Ferrari who are getting even more money for placing higher to advance even further. It really is an impossible task, especially in a sport where the fastest car always win, meaning the teams will get more money to make the fastest car even more faster.

Two Ferraris in the lead. It was all part of my master plan. ;)

Sure it would, F1 has always had this issue no matter what the points system is. New point system isn't anything special.

Most normal fans don't even know what DRS is, as I said if you wish to invest in a sport learn it through and through or just don't bother.

Money doesn't have anything to do with that, well I mean it does...but it's more due to the fact of who the top teams are. Manufacture works teams and not customer teams without a real manufacture behind them.

This leads to a question...

...why are we discussing F1 in a V8 Supercars thread?

Cause they're in Adelaide :sly:

Adelaide is in New Zealand right?

the sly should have indicated you were walking into a joke/troll
I sometimes like walking into jokes and pretend it is legit :P.

Finally caught up on all the races from this weekend. Good speed from Caruso and Coulthard. HRT cars up there as well. Hopefully this dominance from Triple Eight isn't a preview for the season.

I don't want to see dominance by any team or driver but I'd love to see Lowndes win the Championship.

Just caught up on the final races. Not the best races ever, but still entertaining. It's good to see DJR and the Nissan have some pace to match the 888 cars.

I don't want to see 888 dominate all year, but I'm stoked to see SVG doing so well....I know some don't like him for whatever reason, but he just strikes me as a guy who loves driving and loves racing. Anyone who is competative in multiple disciples (including time Attack, and he's not half bad at drifting) gets respect from me. Love seeing him slide the rear end out on the last lap :D

I just want good racing. Well... that and the #17 to get right and be in the top 5 for the rest of the year.

As long as the one bloke doesn't do all the winning, a consistent top 5 finisher might end up with the silverware come December.

The 1982 F1 season always sticks out in my memory because Keke Roaberg won the Championship with a single solitary win from the 14 or 16 races that year. I think there was something like 11 different winners throughout the year but the Finn was the most consistent in far from the fastest car.
If we can have a year like that in Supercar land instead of straight out domination, I won't be disappointed at all.

So long as Craig wins in the end :D

That's how Ingall won. Consistency.
I jus fear the #12 will beat out #17. Only for sheer experience and Coulthard exploring the limits of the FG X.
It's one thing that Coulthard isn't in the shadow or funnily, the limelight, having the famous #17 on his window. I'm loving it that he's going hard like Mostert. Imagine those two as teammates at DJRTP! Pye would be a better match for Frosty. In saying that, I am glad each of the FG X drivers are where they are. This will be one of the greatest years in V8s. The Falcon will have a great chance to win the title, for its last official year as a car made here.

I want to see mixed winners this year at the rounds and the #33 win Bathurst. Like to see Lowndes win the championship, or a Volvo or Nissan for something different (long shot).

I'd love to see the Altima get some P1 qualifying and go on to win. We could see it next round. How Todd pulled on Tander at Clipsal. Gold.

HRT cars up there as well.

Have been quite encouraged by the race pace both HRT cars have shown at Adelaide and the GP. Not getting any hopes up though because it'll inevitably end up in disappointment...

Not a big loss, really. the only thing that made the circuit interesting was the early summer storms.

Make the Bathurst 1000, last race of the year. I'd still do Bathurst in October as a 500 or 600km. At the least, a 300.

Well they're building a new circuit there, right? Use the full track for the 1000 and the shorter one for something else. Win win.

Are there any photos and/or videos of this new circuit? Is it being built right beside the existing track?

I'll have to find the article. I think it is to built in either the current lay out or just outside.

The Homebush race was always a political ploy by Nathan Rees. I never understood why O'Farrell renewed it

I don't like how two of those articles state that they are trying to steal the MotoGP race from Philip Island....like losing PI in MotoGP would be a good thing....

I agree. The bikes belong at PI and anywhere else would be a serious downgrade.

Unlike Formula One, MotoGP doesn't have a problem with multiple events in one country; Spain has four.

Very true. But unless they did a back to back in Oz, can you see them making the trip down under two times in one season?

Pair it up with Malaysia and Japan.
