Whats her plans though? Are the ex-HRT cars just temporary and will they start building their own? They moved their factory so Im assuming that disrupted a lot of plans
This. They are shifting from Moorabbin to Dandenong sometime this year and after that they intend on building there own Holden's (fitted with an E-Cell too).

The Walkinshaw cars are just so they can learn the Holden and run a cheap, reliable car (that doesn't require development) whilst they sort out their future.

Toyota enters two Yarii. Talk about Gen2. :sly:

Fast food chain Red Rooster will join V8 Supercars as an official partner in an agreement over three years.

Red Rooster will also become naming rights sponsor for the Sydney Motorsport Park SuperSprint from August 26-28.

The agreement will see Red Rooster partner V8 Supercars across its entire suite of events.

The deal comes as V8 Supercars prepares to officially announce a primary backer for the series.

V8 Supercars Managing Director Matt Braid welcomed the established roast chicken brand to the category.

“We are excited to partner with Red Rooster, and recognise they are a perfect fit with our V8 Supercars brand,” Braid said.

“Bringing a product the quality of Red Rooster to our events is another step in that direction and mutually beneficial for Red Rooster to showcase their products and services to the V8 Supercars audience.”

Red Rooster CEO Chris Green is excited to be again pitching the brand on the series proper after previously having an association with the sport which included a tied up with The Holden Racing Team.

“V8 Supercars is a truly national sport with a great regional reach – very similar to Red Rooster. We can’t wait for supporters to enjoy Red Rooster at the track and more importantly at home with the launch of our Delivery service,” Green said.

The partnership with Red Rooster will also see V8 Supercars work with outlets around the country in a number of local initiatives, including driver appearances, consumer promotions and ticket giveaways.

V8 Supercars is poised to announce a new naming rights sponsor and international event for the championship.

A report from News Ltd’s Paul Gover has this morning revealed Virgin Australia as the new naming rights sponsor in a deal that will commence in July.

Virgin steps up its commitment to the category having been its official airline partner for several years.

The Virgin deal coincides with moves to finalise a new race in Dubai, which would mark V8 Supercars’ return to the Middle Eastern market for the first time since 2012.

Speedcafe.com revealed interest from Dubai authorities late last year, with the Dubai Autodrome the expected home for V8 Supercars’ latest international foray for 2017.

The Dubai venue hosted the likes of A1 GP and FIA GT shortly after opening in 2004, but has focussed largely on domestic motorsport over the last decade.

V8 Supercars visited nearby Bahrain four times from 2006 and the UAE’s Abu Dhabi three times from 2010.

As long as there's still room on the calendar for a round in Tailem Bend, I don't care. :p Great news for the sport to get a new naming rights sponsor too.

And I'd rather seem them come back to the USA. :p
I'd prefer that too instead of Dubai. You guys have so many cool circuits.
Macau is a great track but I can see it'd be the Safety Car doing most of leading and it'd end up a procession until the inevitable time certain finish

True about Macau but, it would be an awesome spectacle.

I'm sure Richard Branson would give V8 teams mates rates. Brands Hatch, here we come. :sly:

In an ideal world, the V8SC would be a global series. I can only imagine how awesome they would be at places like Brands Hatch, Donnington, Zolder, Assen, Zandvoort, Norris Ring, Salzburgring, Imola, Brno, Sugo, Fuji, Suzuka, Watkins Glen, Limerock, Daytona, Road Atlanta, Road America, Mid Ohio, Leguna Seca, Sonoma, Mt Tremblant, Gilles Villeneuve, Interlagos, Potrero de los Funes...and of course a few of the good Aussie tracks :P

If they're going to Dubai, odds are that they will use the National Course; it's the only one under 3.5km:

That said, I think that the International Course would be a better layout to use:

Although I have heard that the circuit as a whole is not that great.

Several people, several times have pointed out that V8s can only go to 4 international events and aren't allowed in Europe....
Technically, they can restructure as a World Championship. It's just a question of whether the FIA allows it. The restrictions were imposed because the FIA didn't want the series coming into direct competition with the DTM and WTCC and a couple of local championships like the STCC; they were concerned that if V8 Supercars took hold, the smaller series would suffer.

A separate World Series would be great, something a bit more grandiose than previous V8 Stars type series.

With silly season talks already started, where would you guys like to see people go?

I hope scotty stays at GRM he needs to win Volvo a championship, like to see some new blood at HRT (Percat). Maybe someone a bit past their time like Tander end up in a Nissan.

Winterbottom said he would need to get wheeled out from PRA. Same I believe for Tander. He's going nowhere. Courtney has a big asking price. So, I reckon he goes to DJRTP. Hey, he won them their Las C'hip.

Will be interesting to see if there are any seats for 2017.
Where do LeBroq and Goulding go? Jacobson? Would the PRA DVS guys get a lifeline to DJRTP for a 4 car team?
Does LeBroq go to SBR? Pither to DJRTP?
Too many drivers this time with no seats.

That Golding kid is already eyeing Scotty's Volvo Seat. Think he's jumping the gun a bit.

Teams should be trying to steal David Reynolds from Erebus, I'm sure it wouldn't be hard he is a wasted talent there.

He was pretty horrible last year, but he's really turned it around this year.

I agree Golding was pretty average but 10th in his first season of DVS isn't completely horrible but yeah, the step he has taken in the first two rounds this year has been quite unbelieveable.
