I agree Golding was pretty average but 10th in his first season of DVS isn't completely horrible but yeah, the step he has taken in the first two rounds this year has been quite unbelieveable.
I just remember him having some outright shocking performances.

And here I was thinking this could be something exciting
I really don't know what the sudden obsession with these things is all about :odd: They bore the hell out of me & I'd rather watch the grass grow.
Yeah I don't get it either.

For anyone interested, I came across this YouTube channel that uploads a lot of the support races.

Great YouTube channel. He had an old account in which he posted a lot more of the Main series highlights, but was taken down due to copyright, so now he sticks to everything apart from main series and DVS.

Shame it wasn't Castrol sponsoring a couple wildcards for a few rounds.

Anyway, I don't mind them as a sideshow. More exposure the better for V8s.

I actually don't mind the super trucks, they're good entertainment. But what a disappointing announcement, I thought it was going to be something big, the way that tweet was hyping it!

And in sad news, RIP Peter Williamson. :( A real legend of the sport.

You know I agree with @Pete05 was passes for big news these days sucks, I mean I love the liveries every year but I don't see it as big news anymore than any other series that does it. In fact every time I see big news I get over excited in thinking perhaps it's a team finally showing what their cars plans for the future are and start to see a direction the series may shift towards.

Because you wouldn't know it unless someone had told you a major rule shift is coming in the not so distant future.

I'm already a subscriber to the Racing Volt channel and enjoy his offerings on a regular basis.

If you've seen the 1:18 model of a retro Castrol/Perkins VF Commodore, you'll know just how good that car looks. I was sort of on the same page as you about Wildcards but for the enduros in those colors.

Unfortunately a few of us bought a ticket for the hype train & for me, it didn't even leave the Station :irked:

Very sad news about Willo and THE Racecam Pioneer of the World. A great steerer and the man that gave one Mark Skaife his first chance at Bathurst even though the car never started the race following a write off in practice. I can still remember him slumping on the rear glass of his Supra after being involved in the startline pile up in '84.

A couple things:
The Altima isn't selling well here. BUT!... There is still a case for motorsport here, as Nissan are looking to reintroduce NISMO in Australia.

It is possible we could see the GT-R in Supercars, a couple years from now. I'd love for NISSAN to provide customer cars.

The Dubai Autodrome. I just bought pCARS for XBONE. Not the best graphics. However, I like that track. Elevation changes, good straights, a few slow turns which help for passing. Feels like it could be a permanent venue, just by my initial time trying it out. I could see the excitement of all 26+ ;) cars pushing and shoving around there.

I too like Dubai in pCARS. The first sector between the front straight and the back straight is the best part. But like @prisonermonkeys said, the V8s probably wouldn't use the full circuit, in which case the track becomes somewhat average.

To me the GT-R doesn't make sense here. At what point does it just become a GT3 car with more power? The problem is that Nissan doesn't really have many cars they can use. I really think if they do make any changes it will be to the engine only, and they'll keep the Altima body.

As much as I have a problem with the concept of FR V8 Altima & Volvo, I agree with you.

I can agree with an engine change. However, Nissan Australia introduced the Altima for marketing. It hasn't taken off as hoped. Though, people are aware of the car. So, that part of the Jo was done.

The GT-R is the halo car. With Emery thinking about reintroducing NISMO in dealerships, getting the whatever the next shape GT-R on the grid, would be a plus.

It will be interesting to see what Holden run. They run what they sell. When the Commodore ceases, what do they have to fill that space?

Speaking of Holden, they were supposed to show their TT V6 at Bathurst last year which was delayed and now it's been really quiet. Wonder where that stands.

Surely not the Insignia?

If it's to progress to a 2-door class, Camaro. Other than that, I'm not sure even they know.

I'm pretty sure Holden will be running the Commodore after the road car changes format, I'm pretty sure I read that last year some time.

Maybe fear of the crowd at Bathurst due to the sound of the engine? I dunno.

I think the Malibu is still around. You call for them. The Camaro is not rhd friendly. What kind of cars will HSV sell? This is why Cadillac should have been brought over.

Next question is, do they plan on using it in 2017 or will they spend a year testing and get it ready for 2018? :p

Edit: No Dubai.

Could Nissan use the Infiniti Q50? It's 4 door, RWD....I think there's a version of it that comes with the same motor as the GTR.

I always thought it was strange that they converted a FWD Altima to RWD for V8s, when they make a a RWD 4 door in the G37/Q50.

That's actually a good suggestion but not sure they would want to switch over to the Infiniti branding. And it doesn't come with the GT-R engine but the new 3.0L TT from the same VR engine family. Funny thing about that is that Nissan has some 3.0L TT V6's laying around from a dead LMP1 program...

Would the have to switch to Infiniti branding though? The G37 was badged as a Nissan Skyline in Japan, so couldn't they do the same in Australia?

The car is sold as an Infiniti Q50 in Australia, so that wouldn't really work well for them trying to promote sales of the street car.

Only if they plan to sell them in Australia, which would defeat the purpose of the Altima being brought there. I say they just put in the 3L or 3.8 TT and call it a day.

Cadillac isn't RHD friendly either. If they sold the ATS & CTS here I'd be a happy chappy but they don't :banghead:
I just don't understand why any manufacturer would not develop a car so that it can be sold with the steering wheel on either side throughout the world? Talk about limit your sales potential.

You see a sticking point for sales, I see a ready-made excuse for why the team is under-performing - and a testament to the drivers' skill when they do succeed.
