That first lap pace for the Prodrive cars has killed Mostert's chances at a win in recent races. Such a shame, but hopefully he can work his way back up to the two leading cars.

Chas was fine until he stepped on the dirt. He made sure to close the door.

I think the wheel guy didn't tighten the rhf. He looked like he didn't tighten it all the way.

Edit: well, I guess Whincup gets this one again.

Okay, now, when does the race start?

A bit of a meh race. Got good towards the end, but I wish there was another 3 laps. Courtney was closing in fast.

Great racing up front, would prefer it be anybody but those two...

Meh race indeed, after the stops it spread out.

Yeah, nice stuff for Courtney to score a podium.

Sounds like a bit of a boring race, I guess the highlights on TV tonight will compress it a little and it'll seem exciting for me. Too poor for pay TV to watch it live. (maybe not poor, but definitely tight)

You didn't miss a thing. Porsche Cup and the 86 series had more action and drama.

If they go there is only 1 factory brand left in Holden. The series is still hugely popular though so I don't understand what the issue is here.

The biggest issue keeping manufacturers (and their money) away is the lack of direction from the category. They have no clear mission statement: is this a parity series? Or is it a development series? Do we want excitement? Or sporting competition?

There's no clear answer, because the category doesn't know it either. This makes it incredibly difficult to entice new brands, because there is limited testing and development, but no balance adjustments to keep things level.

If you're a new manufacturer, you could be faced with unbelievably high setup costs by building cars and engines with no other use or connection to another series and end up with no benefit or success for all your hard work, effectively giving the brands no return on their investment.

Supercars is an enormous gamble, unlike other categories where your costs and returns are easily known prior to getting involved.

That'd be fine if this was an open development series, but it's not. The problem is that it's not a parity series either...

Hey, new digs.

Anyway, I'll continue to bring up MARC cars. I'm sure those cars could use turbo engines to match or exceed current Supercars power levels.

At the moment, doesn't seem like Ford or Mazda have a problem with a Coyote V8 in an Mazda3 shell.

That's because Ford & Mazda could care less about something that runs as a filler in any category they're eligible for.
Why they let them run in the Bathurst 12 hour is beyond me.
Interest factor: 0 :yuck:

I'm thinking about the Chassis. It's endurance spec but, aren't the GT3 cars? Which means built pretty tough and lowish cost factor. MARC cars are pretty even with GT3 cars in regards to terminal speeds.

It's clearly not going to happen but, it's more of an even playing field that the way things are now. Just insert engine and cover with preferred shell. Done.
Heh, it's already up to 93 pages.
Wonder if anyone will start to make separate race threads. :sly:

Say, the Carrera Asia Cup is fun. Stuff happening all over. Let the V8 drivers jump in these cars for the race this afternoon. :D

Edit: How good does that Top 10 look? Great job by all makes.

Let's see if Triple Eight can make it 7 in a row.

Kind of feel like I'm watching F1 here.

Am I watching Carrera Cup or Formula Ford?

Honestly, the driving standards are somewhere between a Gran Turismo 6 online lobby and Pennant Hills Road.

Truuuue. Wait til the Pro race. Should be even more lively.

Dig the Rexona ad with Garry Rogers. The Monaro pit stop practice car. I'd quite like to see that car finished and polished.

My evening, as I'm sure it is for most others here as well.

While it really didn't have much action or drama either. I still thought the GT endurance race yesterday was quite good too.

Look like a One Make race with the Altimas.

Rick is faster than Todd, and Caruso is faster than both of them. They need to sort themselves out before Frosty clips all 3 of them.

Edit: That penalty is pure BS. He waited for him to get going and never took the spot. Stupid.

That was a penalty not needed at the end of the race. Giz was done. He was going to get passed anyway. Just wrong. I'm happy for the #12 but, just wrong for Moffat.

Did Giz get a penalty last year for the same thing?

I only managed to catch the highlights, seemed like a rather boring weekend of racing. Really looking forward to retro round now though!

Edit: tree'd

So, Winton is the odd event out? I'd hate to see Phillip Island dumped from the calendar.

Warburton trying to bank on Australian tourism to Thailand. I doubt most Australian visitors would attend a Supercars event. I wish he'd stop. If he had Japan in there, I bet it would sway Nissan to stay. Maybe and interest from other Japanese makes as well.

Japan, man. Japan. Suzuka and or Sugo. Some may not agree but, I still push for Fuji Speedway. It's 4.5kms where as the Sentul circuit is 4.1kms.

Agree on Japan, and Twin Ring Motegi is a perfect track for these cars.
