Just watching the Channel 10 highlights right now as I was at work when it was live.

A truly unbelievable sight, I can't help but grimace every time I see the Davison-Kelly hit. Absolutely brutal. Thankfully everyone for the most part is okay.

Seeing the onboard shot of Tanders car, facing rear wards, was incredible seeing Rick Kelly slide along and all of the other cars as well. Like a scene from a movie.

#22 you mean. Pye's car was being fixed last night.
Ah, okay, thought Courtney was out and Pye was in.

Edit: with that rule, the race should have taken part this morning.

That sucked yesterday. All the damage is always bad and Erebus had a good quali so I was hoping for a decent result there too.

GRM and BJR expect to have their cars ready for tomorrow.

The #15, #2, #99 and #19 are out.

Courtney is out (like Spacegoat said) but he still runs #22.

Yeah, it's a typo.

Both GRM cars looking prestine. Its amazing how teams repair these cars.

I'd imagine the stocks in Rain-X just went up, due to the Aussie Race Cars.

Edit: Sports CAC race suspended. The orange Z crashes out.

Sports CAC race suspended

All on track activity should be suspended. Conditions are way to dangerous at the moment.

Yeah, the crash was definitely one of if not the worst crash in V8 Supercars history. What I can't understand is how the race can be started SOOOO late in the day. If there's any delay, the full race cannot be run. After yesterday, the race start/s should be bumped back to a more reasonable time from now on. I couldn't care less about the TV schedule. Besides, the track is pretty much a corridor - when one car crashes, all the other cars behind have nowhere to go because there's no runoff. Couple that with a wet track and abysmal glare and you get a recipe for disaster. For me that's enough of a reason to stop going to Symmons Plains. Will this change? NO, OF COURSE NOT ARE YOU STUPID??? I'm pissed off because we saw no racing at all, and I blame the late start for this mess! It's bad for the fans and the drivers, they come to race, NOT SIT AROUND AND DO NOTHING. These things happen, and the race organisers need to think about what could go wrong, rather than having team owners scrambling for answers. IT'S A JOKE I SAY!

No different to any street circuit and definitely no different to Bathurst. Wanting to take those off of the calendar too? I wouldn't say it's the worst accident ever, severity wise. The Davison-Kelly hit was massive, and the Douglas-Courtney hit was pretty hefty, but most of the other hits weren't too extraordinary. It's just the amount of cars in the accident was like something we've never been used too.

You shouldn't be given half points if you don't complete half a race. They did 1 and a half racing laps. The race should have just been rescheduled or abandoned completely.
Formula One uses a similar rule, but you need to complete a minimum distance before points can be awarded. One and a half laps isn't enough.

Thought the Murphy Ambrose crash involved the same amount.

Who knew that Dale Wood was good in the rain.

Edit: Damnit Whincup. :irked:

Well that was quite a hectic qualifying session.

Man, this Aussie Racing Car race is insane. Just aqua-planning everywhere.

I love the speed down the back straight.
LEDs front & rear and a front wiper is all they need. Would be fun as a daily driver around town.

Coulthard gets a 35 point penalty for causing yesterday's accident. Or, to put it more accurately, a 35 point penalty for trying to drive in conditions so bad that the race never should have been run.

The cynic in me wonders if Roland Dane had a hand in it; if he couldn't get championship points for his drivers, he could at least get their nearest rivals penalised.

Yeah, just read that.

Doesn't make sense to blame anyone in this instance.

I saw a Fox Sports article rating this accident with other accidents in terms of number of cars. Hidden Valley in 2013 involved 7 cars, while the largest before then was Sandown in 1998 which involved 9. The Murphy-Ambrose probably involved around 7-8 cars, as most evaded damage and just had to stop on track due to it being blocked. The 2010 Sydney race was the one featured the big aquaplaning accident, I'm not sure how many people caught damage in that, but I guess those could be considered seperate incidents.

I wouldn't mind looking back at some though cause I feel like they've been a couple of other large scale pile ups as well.

In response to this...

I couldn't have said it better myself.

I can see that point about separate incidents over one big pile up. Like the ATCC Bathurst crash at the same corner.

How good is this S2 race?!

Edit: And an Altima wins. Good stuff.
