Yesterday's race was one of the weirdest I've seen. It was a basically a mini Bathurst 1000 from 2014, with drivers shuffling positions throughout. Blowouts, penalties, drama - just what I love! Honestly, it was one of the craziest races. Also, Cam Waters need to be spoken to. Once again, he triggered a pile up and I think his driving is awful. He isn't monitored closely enough, he consistently gets in the way and causes a whole heap of trouble for other drivers. Worse than Rick Kelly if I'm honest.

Am I the only one who thinks that the Toyota 86 Series us fantastic?
It's honestly the best part of a V8SC weekend. Massive grid and racing all the way through the field. Outshines V8SC too, sometimes.

I love it. I'm about to do my third race with a full grid after the S2 race.

Speaking if S2, these guys have gotten better this weekend. Hard and fair racing. The Altima is a class above, in Le Broca's hands.

Edit: and as I say that, tyre failure. Dang.

As I understand it, Super2 is no longer the development series - the Kumho V8 Touring Cars are. Super2 is quickly becoming its own full championship, although I think it would be better if it copied the format of Supercars, but ran to half race distance.

Well, they proved it this weekend.

Look at that, a Ford, Nissan and Commodore on the podium.

Waters gets 35 point penalty for causing first-lap incident.

Wood gets 25 point penalty for driving into Waters.

No word on penalties for drivers who crossed the pit entry line before McLaughlin.

Well at least the tires are lasting longer than yesterday.

Coulthard under investigation for ignoring the red light at the end of pit lane. No investigation (yet) into Whincup for an unsafe pit release.

VESA issued a directive overnight - the teams have to observe the pressure and camber setting recommended by Dunlop.

I don't think Le Bro q took his drive thru. Maybe this why he got a 50 point hit.
Oh well...

The #97 as well. And the #88.

So much for Mark Dutton claiming that the other teams who suffered failures yesterday, were running the "wrong setups".

Why didn't DJRTP put tape on the bumper than cut it?

Cause it was probably faster either way, plus it's easier to cut it and not worry about it coming off again and being called in before the race is over.

Indeed. She's truly holding her own.
I was hoping she would have caught Pye.

Pye was behind her in the last five laps to begin with, he got past her.

Yes, but she finished 3 seconds behind. Was hoping she had something in reserve. The Three Stooges seemed to have tyres left.

Eh not really they just had enough to go at it in the final lap. If she had something I feel like she'd have stopped the pass on her from him, she kept Scotty from passing her in the end so good job there.

What are the V8 Utes still racing? :indiff:

Could have invited a different support category. TCM or a top 10 shootout to full that slot.
I wouldn't be surprised if they wind up on the Shannons Nationals support bill soon. The only real appeal of the Utes was essentially street fighting - of racing drivers behaving badly. Nobody really stepped up from the Utes to Super2, much less Supercars. With the Dunlop Series being reimagined as Super2, the creation of Toyota 86 and Australian Formula 4 and Kumho Touring beung integrated into the support bill, the support categories seem to have been restructured to emphasise quality, professional racing. There's really no place for what amounts to a class of children who can't be trusted to behave in any other classroom.

I posted in the Production car thread about Ross Stone heading the Super Utes series. I think there will be a bit of quality racing, as he's fielding Rangers.
We'll see.
